Using digital phenotyping to capture depression symptom variability: detecting naturalistic variability in depression symptoms across one year using passively collected wearable movement and sleep data

open access: yesTranslational Psychiatry, 2023
Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) presents considerable challenges to diagnosis and management due to symptom variability across time. Only recent work has highlighted the clinical implications for interrogating depression symptom variability.

MASON-NLP at eRisk 2023: Deep Learning-Based Detection of Depression Symptoms from Social Media Texts [PDF]

open access: yesWorking Notes of CLEF (2023): 18-21, 2023
Depression is a mental health disorder that has a profound impact on people's lives. Recent research suggests that signs of depression can be detected in the way individuals communicate, both through spoken words and written texts. In particular, social media posts are a rich and convenient text source that we may examine for depressive symptoms.

Uncoupling of the endocannabinoid signalling complex in a mouse model of fragile X syndrome [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Fragile X syndrome, the most commonly known genetic cause of autism, is due to loss of the fragile X mental retardation protein, which regulates signal transduction at metabotropic glutamate receptor-5 in the brain.

In‐Situ Growth of 2D MOFs as a Molecular Sieving Layer on SnS2 Nanoflakes for Realizing Ultraselective H2S Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 35, Issue 12, March 18, 2025.
The ultraselective H2S detection of the ZIF‐L/SnS2 heterostructure is demonstrated. The introduction of 2‐dimensional (2D) breathable ZIF‐L results in a substantial increase in H2S selectivity attributable to the molecular sieving effect, which impedes the permeation of gases with large kinetic diameters and high polarity.

Nitric Oxide Facilitates Long-Term Potentiation, But Not Long-Term Depression [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Neuroscience, 1997
Reports that nitric oxide synthase (NOS) inhibition prevents the induction of long-term potentiation (LTP) have been controversial. Recent evidence suggests that NO may help to regulate the threshold for LTP induction. We have tested this hypothesis by examining the effects of stimulus frequency and train duration on synaptic plasticity in the presence

Ultra‐Fast Non‐Volatile Resistive Switching Devices with Over 512 Distinct and Stable Levels for Memory and Neuromorphic Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A materials and device design concept that comprises a self‐assembled ultra‐thin epitaxial ion‐transporting layer, an amorphous oxide overcoat oxygen‐blocking layer, and a partial filament formed during an electroforming step is proposed for low‐current multilevel resistive switching devices.

Sex difference in synaptic plasticity in the anterior cingulate cortex of adult mice

open access: yesMolecular Brain, 2020
Sex differences in certain types of pain sensitivity and emotional responses have been previously reported. Synaptic plasticity is a key cellular mechanism for pain perception and emotional regulation, including long-term potentiation (LTP) and long-term

Left Out Of The Economy: Much More Must Be Done to Help Consumers Enter the Workforce [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
[Excerpt] Unemployment leads directly to poverty— a situation that people with mental illness are three times more likely to be in than people without disabilities. Cornell University researchers reported in 2005 that people with psychiatric disabilities

Genome-wide polygenic scoring for a 14-year long-term average depression phenotype [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Background: Despite moderate heritability estimates for depression-related phenotypes, few robust genetic predictors have been identified. Potential explanations for this discrepancy include the use of phenotypic measures taken from a single time point ...
