Triblock Polymer Engineering Enables Hydration‐Rich, High‐Performance, Fouling‐Resistant Interfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A molecularly engineered triblock polymer (PHZ) rapidly reorganizes into a hydration‐rich interfacial layer on diverse surfaces, strongly suppressing hydrophobic attraction and fouling. The triblock polymer provides robust energy and steric barriers to oily foulants, enabling high‐performance antifouling at ultralow dosage.

Terrestrial very-long-baseline atom interferometry: Workshop summary [PDF]

open access: yesAVS Quantum Science
This document presents a summary of the 2023 Terrestrial Very-Long-Baseline Atom Interferometry Workshop hosted by CERN. The workshop brought together experts from around the world to discuss the exciting developments in large-scale atom interferometer (AI) prototypes and their potential for detecting ultralight dark matter and gravitational waves. The

Stellar intensity interferometry: Experimental steps toward long-baseline observations

open access: yes, 2010
Experiments are in progress to prepare for intensity interferometry with arrays of air Cherenkov telescopes. At the Bonneville Seabase site, near Salt Lake City, a testbed observatory has been set up with two 3-m air Cherenkov telescopes on a 23-m ...

Validation of the Exoplanet Kepler-21b using PAVO/CHARA Long-Baseline Interferometry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We present long-baseline interferometry of the Kepler exoplanet host star HD179070 (Kepler-21) using the PAVO beam combiner at the CHARA Array. The visibility data are consistent with a single star and exclude stellar companions at separations ~1-1000 ...

Label‐Free and Immobilization‐Free Protein‐Binding Assays by Ultraviolet Transient Absorption Microscopy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A femtosecond UV pump–probe microscope resolves binding‐induced changes in protein excited‐state dynamics and converts these intrinsic contrasts into an equilibrium affinity readout. By probing tryptophan responses directly in solution, the approach enables quantitative determination of dissociation constants without labeling or immobilization ...

Serial MultiView: An Efficient Approach to Mitigating Atmospheric Spatial-structure Errors for Very-long-baseline-interferometry Astrometry

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
Atmospheric propagation errors are a main constraint on the accuracy of very-long-baseline-interferometry astrometry. For relative astrometry, differential techniques can mitigate these errors, but their effectiveness diminishes with decreasing elevation

Demonstrating Photon Ring Existence with Single-baseline Polarimetry

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters, 2023
Images of supermassive black hole accretion flows contain features of both curved spacetime and plasma structure. Inferring properties of the spacetime from images requires modeling the plasma properties, and vice versa.

Inter‐microscope comparability of dental microwear texture data obtained from different optical profilometers: Part I Reproducibility of diet inference using different instruments

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Dental microwear texture analysis (DMTA) has become a well‐established method for dietary inference and reconstruction in both extant and extinct mammals and other tetrapods. As the volume of available data continues to grow, researchers could benefit from combining published data from various studies to perform meta‐analyses.

First Very Long Baseline Interferometry Detections at 870 μm

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
The first very long baseline interferometry (VLBI) detections at 870 μ m wavelength (345 GHz frequency) are reported, achieving the highest diffraction-limited angular resolution yet obtained from the surface of the Earth and the highest-frequency ...

Lab‐Scale Continuous Biomanufacturing: A Tool for Process Development With Adaptive Strategies for Capture and Virus Inactivation

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, EarlyView.
Schematic representation of the continuous lab‐scale process. ABSTRACT Monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) are nowadays fundamental in treating a wide range of severe diseases, including cancer, infections, or autoimmune disorders. Due to their high specificity, potent activity, and fewer side effects compared to small molecular drugs, the market for mAbs is ...
