Light‐Switched Mesenchymal Stem Cells for In Situ Exosome Amplification in Craniofacial Bone Defect Reconstruction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Light‐switchable MSCs (MSC‐UCNPs) were constructed by intracellular incorporation of UCNPs. Upon 980 nm irradiation, UCNPs emitted localized ultraviolet light (365 nm), activating the ROS/HEXB/LAMP1 signaling pathway to suppress lysosome–multivesicular body fusion and thereby enhance exosome biogenesis. Embedded within an injectable hydrogel, MSC‐UCNPs

Outcomes of periodontal therapy: Strengthening the relevance of research to patients. A co‐created review

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView., 2023
Abstract Periodontitis is a long‐term condition affecting up to half of the population globally and causing significant impacts on life quality. Successful management depends on taking life‐long ownership of the condition by those affected. There is a wealth of research to inform on management options. However, most of the research has been designed by

The Extreme Activity in Comet Hale–Bopp (C/1995 O1): Investigations of Extensive Narrowband Photoelectric Photometry

open access: yesThe Planetary Science Journal
Conventional narrowband photoelectric photometry of Comet Hale–Bopp (1995 O1) was obtained on 99 nights from mid-1995 to early-2000, yielding gas and dust production rates over an unprecedented range of time and distance. The appearance of Hale–Bopp (H-B)

Alternative Policy Designs to Help Farmers Select Profitable Conservation Practices

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Voluntary private carbon initiatives (VPCIs) promote the implementation of agricultural conservation practices that mitigate emissions of greenhouse gases (GHGs) via financial incentives to participating farmers. Simultaneously, an array of public policies supports the adoption of conservation practices through technical and financial ...

Demise of Kreutz Sungrazing Comet C/2024 S1 (ATLAS)

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
Most Kreutz family sungrazing comets are discovered only days before perihelion, severely limiting observational opportunities to study their physical nature and decay.

Dielectric Elastomer Actuators as Safe and Effective Tools for Mechanostimulation of Human Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Replicating physiological forces is crucial for realistic cell models. Dielectric elastomer actuators (DEAs) offer a soft alternative, though their high voltages raised toxicity concerns. We demonstrate that DEA stimulation causes no cell damage, cell death or cell‐cycle disruption, while activating mechanosensitive responses.

Dust and Volatiles in the Disintegrating Comet C/2019 Y4 (ATLAS)

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
C/2019 Y4 (ATLAS) is an Oort cloud comet with an orbital period of ∼5895 yr. Starting in 2020 March, its nucleus underwent disintegration. In order to investigate the gas and dust properties of C/2019 Y4 (ATLAS) during its disintegration, we obtained ...

Long Dust Trails of Short Period Comets [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Astronomical Union Colloquium, 1991
Comets constitute an important source for the zodiacal dust cloud. Mainly large particles are contributed because the smaller particles are emitted into hyperbolic orbits relative to the sun. Radiation pressure force reduces the effective solar gravitational attraction. Information about large cometary particles can be derived from a variety of sources

Influence of Storage Time on Functional Bulk Properties of Low‐Pressure Oxygen/Argon Plasma Modified Polypropylene Fabric

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, EarlyView.
Treatment of polypropylene fabric in oxygen plasma was used to impart the fabric surface with more hydrophilic surface properties. Changes in bulk properties were minimal as the modification mainly affected the fabric surface. Bulk fabric properties water retention, moisture content and wicking were monitored over a period of 33 days.

Analysis of the aphelia of 179 long period comets considering the effect of the vertical galactic tidal force [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
We analyze the incoming direction of 179 long period comets. We have taken into account the gravitational influence of the planets as well as the Galaxy as a whole.
