Antioxidant, Bacteriostatic and Preservative Effects of Extractable Condensed Tannins Isolated from Longan Pericarps and Seeds

open access: yesPlants, 2023
In the process of longan production and processing, a large amount of remnants is produced, such as dried longan pericarps and seeds, which have been reported to be rich in polyphenols but not effectively utilized.

Cloning and function analysis of DlWRKY9 gene in longan (Dimocarpus longan)

open access: yesNotulae Botanicae Horti Agrobotanici Cluj-Napoca, 2022
WRKY is one of the largest plant transcription factors (TFs) which is widely involved in plant growth, development, and responses to stresses. In the present study, a WRKY TF DlWRKY9 was cloned from longan (Dimocarpus longan). The coding sequence (CDS) of DlWRKY9 is 762 bp in length and encodes 253 amino acids.

Antioxidant activity of longan (Dimocarpus longan) barks and leaves

open access: yesAfrican Journal of Biotechnology, 2012
In this paper, the barks and leaves of longan (Dimocarpus longan Lour.) were extracted with 80% methanol. The antioxidant activity and the contents of ellagic acid (EA) in the extracts were investigated. For the evaluation of antioxidant activities, the extracts possess almost the same 2,2- diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging activity ...

Antioxidant and Anti-Inflammatory Properties of Longan (Dimocarpus longanLour.) Pericarp [PDF]

open access: yesEvidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine, 2012
This study examined the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities of the water extract of longan pericarp (WLP). The results showed that WLP exhibited radical scavenging, reducing activity and liposome protection activity. In addition, WLP also inhibited lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced nitric oxide (NO) production in macrophages.
