Nonlinear Longitudinal Vibrations of a Rod
Journal of Vibration and Control, 1999This paper deals with the longitudinal vibrations of a nonlinear rod. The nonlinearity is strong and of cubic type. The motion of the rod is described by a second-order strong nonlinear partial differential equation. The exact numerical solution is obtained.

Longitudinal vibrations in violin strings
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1983We report the observation of longitudinal vibrations in violin strings excited by bowing. These vibrations are detected from the rocking motion of the top of the bridge in the direction longitudinal to the strings, with the aid of a photoelectric device.

Longitudinal vibrations of embankment dams
International Journal of Rock Mechanics and Mining Sciences & Geomechanics Abstracts, 1981This paper presents an analytical method to study free and forced longitudinal vibrations of embankment dams. Both shear and dilatational deformations are taken into account, and the dam is modeled as a linear homogeneous prism with a wedge-shape cross section, bounded by two vertical (abutment) and one horizontal (riverbed) planes.

Momentum of Longitudinal Elastic Vibrations
American Journal of Physics, 1968The field-theoretic momentum of longitudinal vibrations in an elastic medium is not the same as the total momentum of the particles which constitute the medium. In this article, we discuss the connection between these two quantities in terms of a new conservation law which follows from an underlying symmetry of the system.

Free Vibrations of Longitudinally Stiffened Cylindrical Shells
Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1974This study is concerned with the free-vibration characteristics of thin cylindrical shells reinforced by longitudinal stringers for any edge boundary conditions. The structural system is treated as an isotropic cylinder interacting with a set of discrete thin-walled stringers.

Longitudinal Vibrations of Restrained Irregular Nanoplates
Journal of Nanoelectronics and Optoelectronics, 2022The main purpose of this work is to examine how surface irregularity affects the longitudinal vibration frequency of nanoplates. Based on the Kirchhoff plate model, the boundary conditions and governing equations are developed. The MATLAB R2013a Software is utilized to carry out the numerical solutions, and an accurate solution is shown.

Longitudinal Vibrations of Piezoceramic Rods
Journal of Mathematical Sciences, 2001The problem of dynamical electroelasticity for the infinite rod (plane problem) is considered. At two cross-sections of the rod there are electrodes which excite pulses varying in time. The aim of the paper is to determine taking off electric energy generated by longitudinal compressed pulse passing through the part between electrodes.
