Evaluation of the Performance of Vortex Generators on the DU 91-W2-250 Profile using Stereoscopic PIV [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Systemics, Cybernetics and Informatics, 2009
Stereoscopic PIV measurements investigating the effect of Vortex Generators on the lift force near stall and on glide ratio at best aerodynamic performance have been carried out in the LM Glasfiber wind tunnel on a DU 91-W2-250 profile.

Tkachenko oscillations and the compressibility of a rotating Bose gas

open access: yes, 2004
The elastic oscillations of the vortex lattice of a cold Bose gas (Tkachenko modes) are shown to play a crucial role in the saturation of the compressibility sum rule, as a consequence of the hybridization with the longitudinal degrees of freedom.

A water tunnel flow visualization study of the vortex flow structures on the F/A-18 aircraft [PDF]

open access: yes
The vortex flow structures occurring on the F/A-18 aircraft at high angles of attack were studied. A water tunnel was used to gather flow visualization data on the forebody vortex and the wing leading edge extension vortex.

Topological aberration of optical vortex beams and singularimetry of dielectric interfaces

open access: yes, 2012
The splitting of a high-order optical vortex into a constellation of unit vortices, upon total reflection, is described and analyzed. The vortex constellation generalizes, in a local sense, the familiar longitudinal Goos-H\"anchen and transverse Imbert ...

Production version of the extended NASA-Langley Vortex Lattice FORTRAN computer program. Volume 1: User's guide [PDF]

open access: yes
The latest production version, MARK IV, of the NASA-Langley vortex lattice computer program is summarized. All viable subcritical aerodynamic features of previous versions were retained. This version extends the previously documented program capabilities

Vortex corrections to universal scaling of magnetic fluctuations in 2D XY model

open access: yes, 2002
The vortex contribution to the probability density function of longitudinal magnetization fluctuations is examined in finite 2D XY systems close to the Kosterlitz-Thouless-Berezinskii transition temperature.

Process of Formation of a Mushroom-type Longitudinal Vortex

open access: yesJournal of the Japan Society for Aeronautical and Space Sciences, 1977
The formation of mushroom-type longitudinal vortices with streamwise axces is noticed in the boundary layer both along flat walls and along curved ones of a two-dimensional convergent nozzle. The vortex formed on the flat wall is examined experimentally. Air flow in the boundary layer is visualized by using evaporated-gasoil smoke, which is supplied to

Hall noise and transverse freezing in driven vortex lattices

open access: yes, 1999
We study driven vortices lattices in superconducting thin films. Above the critical force $F_c$ we find two dynamical phase transitions at $F_p$ and $F_t$, which could be observed in simultaneous noise measurements of the longitudinal and the Hall ...

Optical Faraday manipulating longitudinal component of optical vortex beams

open access: yesBitlis Eren Üniversitesi Fen Bilimleri Dergisi
In this study, we aim to investigate the novel application of the Optical Faraday effect in manipulating the longitudinal component of optical vortex beams, which are characterized by their unique orbital angular momentum and helical phase structure.
