Tuna Longline Fishing around West and Central Pacific Seamounts

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2010
Seamounts have been identified as aggregating locations for pelagic biodiversity including tuna; however the topography and prevailing oceanography differ between seamounts and not all are important for tuna. Although a relatively common feature in oceanic ecosystems, little information is available that identifies those that are biologically important.

Post-release survival of loggerhead sea turtles (Caretta caretta) incidentally hooked in a North Atlantic pelagic longline fishery

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science
Estimating mortality of sea turtles incidentally captured in fishing gear is essential to understanding fishery impacts on sea turtle populations. Loggerhead turtles (Caretta caretta) are a component of bycatch in pelagic longline fisheries, including ...

Seabird bycatch mitigation trials in artisanal demersal longliners of the Western Mediterranean.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2018
High numbers of seabirds are killed annually worldwide in longline fisheries. In the Mediterranean, this mortality is seriously affecting the viability of seabird populations, in particular of the three endemic shearwaters. Even so, there is currently no
