A decidable quantified fragment of set theory with ordered pairs and some undecidable extensions

open access: yes, 2012
In this paper we address the decision problem for a fragment of set theory with restricted quantification which extends the language studied in [4] with pair related quantifiers and constructs, in view of possible applications in the field of knowledge ...

Group Cohomology, Modular Theory and Space-time Symmetries [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
The Bisognano-Wichmann property on the geometric behavior of the modular group of the von Neumann algebras of local observables associated to wedge regions in Quantum Field Theory is shown to provide an intrinsic sufficient criterion for the existence of

Unrestricted kinematic alignment on the sagittal plane: Posterior tibial slope and combined flexion do not have boundaries to respect in terms of short‐term clinical outcomes and safety

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose Personalized alignment in total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is gaining traction as a surgical philosophy. True personalization, however, must encompass not only the coronal plane but also the sagittal and axial planes. This study evaluates influence of the Tibial Slope (PTS) and combined flexion (CF) on outcomes in TKA performed using ...

Long-term hypoxia modulates depolarization activation of BKCa currents in fetal sheep middle cerebral arterial myocytes

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology
IntroductionPrevious evidence indicates that gestational hypoxia disrupts cerebrovascular development, increasing the risk of intracranial hemorrhage and stroke in the newborn.

Long-Term High-Altitude Hypoxia and Alpha Adrenoceptor-Dependent Pulmonary Arterial Contractions in Fetal and Adult Sheep

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2019
Autonomic innervation of the pulmonary vasculature triggers vasomotor contractility predominately through activation of alpha-adrenergic receptors (α-ARs) in the fetal circulation.

Integrable QFT and Longo–Witten Endomorphisms [PDF]

open access: yesAnnales Henri Poincaré, 2014
Our previous constructions of Borchers triples are extended to massless scattering with nontrivial left and right components. A massless Borchers triple is constructed from a set of left-left, right-right and left-right scattering functions. We find a correspondence between massless left-right scattering S-matrices and massive block diagonal S-matrices.

Concept for using laser beams to measure electron density in plasmas [PDF]

open access: yes, 1966
Concept is proposed for using laser beams as a means of measuring electron density at various points in flame or plasma exhausts. Measurement of the electron density is obtained by detecting reflected waves in the plasma that were activated by the ...

Kinematic alignment, but not mechanical alignment, preserves the knee–ankle relationship after total knee arthroplasty: A retrospective radiographic analysis from the FP‐UCBM Knee Study Group

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose Several alignment strategies have been proposed in total knee arthroplasty (TKA), with the two extremes being mechanical alignment (MA) and unrestricted kinematic alignment (KA). While MA standardises coronal knee parameters to achieve a neutral alignment, KA reproduces each patient's native joint lines.

Influence of Concentration and Activation on Hydrogen Peroxide Diffusion through Dental Tissues In Vitro

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, 2013
This study evaluated the effect of physical and chemical activation on the diffusion time of different concentrations of hydrogen peroxide (HP) bleaching agents through enamel and dentin.

Gestational Hypoxia and Programing of Lung Metabolism

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2019
Gestational hypoxia is a risk factor in the development of pulmonary hypertension in the newborn and other sequela, however, the mechanisms associated with the disease remain poorly understood. This review highlights disruption of metabolism by antenatal
