Microstructure, Thermal Transport, and Dry‐Sliding Tribology of Powder‐Metallurgy Al7075 Composites Reinforced With Sol–Gel‐Derived ZnO–rGO Hybrid Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Sol–gel‐derived ZnO–rGO hybrid nanoparticles enable Al7075 powder‐metallurgy composites to achieve concurrent gains in hardness and thermal conductivity while markedly lowering friction and wear. The hybrid architecture couples ZnO‐based load support with rGO‐assisted lamellar sliding and heat spreading, revealing a promising route toward lightweight ...

Tightly coupled policies and loosely coupled networks in the governing of flood risk mitigation in municipal administrations

open access: yesEcology and Society, 2021
Flood risk is a complex and transboundary issue that is expected to escalate with climate change and requires to be governed by collaborative networks of actors.

Improving groupware design for loosely coupled groups [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Loosely coupled workgroups are common in the real world, and workers in these groups are autonomous and weakly interdependent. They have patterns of work and collaboration that distinguish them from other types of groups, and groupware systems that are ...

COLLABORATION IN THE LOOSELY COUPLED ACADEMY

open access: yes, 2023
This dissertation examines how loosely coupled university units collaborate in the achievement of institutional wide goals. Today's higher education institutions are being asked to do more with less as resources have decreased and regulatory procedures ...

Advanced Electron Microscopy and Microcomputed Tomography Analysis of Single‐Crystal Ni‐Base Superalloys After Short‐Term Multiaxial Creep

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work studies the anisotropic behavior of circular notched tensile specimens of Ni‐base superalloy single crystals during high‐temperature tensile creep along [001], [110], and [111]. Correlative scale‐bridging imaging of specimens reveals early rupture along [110] because 1) plastic deformation proceeds faster at notch center; 2) more (brittle ...

Solving loosely coupled constraints [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Many practical problems are modelled by mean of constraints which, pairwise, share only a few variables if any. Suc constraints are loosely coupled. In this paper we show how to use this property to lower the complexity of decision procedures or solvers.

Swelling‐Programmed Topographical Guidance for Dynamic Spheroid Self‐Assembly via a Mechanochemical Hydrogel Niche

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A swelling‐programmed micropatterned hydrogel guides adherent cells through a controlled transition from cell–matrix anchoring to cadherin‐mediated cell–cell compaction, enabling rapid assembly of high‐viability spheroids with defined size and morphology.

Optimization of loosely coupled inductive data transfer systems by non-Foster impedance matching [PDF]

open access: yesAdvances in Radio Science, 2019
Wireless energy transfer is often used in industrial applications to power actors or sensors, for example in rotating applications as replacement for mechanical slip rings.

LOOSE MECHANOCHEMICAL COUPLING OF MOLECULAR MOTORS [PDF]

open access: yesModern Physics Letters B, 2012
In living cells, molecular motors convert chemical energy into mechanical work. Its thermodynamic energy efficiency, i.e. the ratio of output mechanical work to input chemical energy, is usually high. However, using two-state models, we found the motion of molecular motors is loosely coupled to the chemical cycle.
