The vibration response of a component, particularly the frequency response of the component, can be used in the determination of the loss factor damping, η, due to energy dissipation and the elastic modulus (E).

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Dielectric loss factor of sintered coal ash
This work presents the study of dissipation factor (tanδ) for ash prepared from a power plant coal. Values of tanδ were measured for samples of coal ash with additive of biomass and kaolinite, sintered at various temperatures up to 1100°C.

Online Ranking: Discrete Choice, Spearman Correlation and Other Feedback [PDF]
Given a set $V$ of $n$ objects, an online ranking system outputs at each time step a full ranking of the set, observes a feedback of some form and suffers a loss. We study the setting in which the (adversarial) feedback is an element in $V$, and the loss

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Using Hermite Expansions for Fast and Arbitrarily Accurate Computation of the Expected Loss of a Loan Portfolio Tranche in the Gaussian Factor Model [PDF]
We propose a fast algorithm for computing the expected tranche loss in the Gaussian factor model with arbitrary accuracy using Hermite expansions. No assumptions about homogeneity of the portfolio are made.

We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...
