Lossless Transformations and Excess Risk Bounds in Statistical Inference

open access: yesEntropy, 2023
We study the excess minimum risk in statistical inference, defined as the difference between the minimum expected loss when estimating a random variable from an observed feature vector and the minimum expected loss when estimating the same random ...

Optimal code design for lossless and near lossless source coding in multiple access networks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
A multiple access source code (MASC) is a source code designed for the following network configuration: a pair of correlated information sequences {Xi}i=1∞ and {Yi }i=1∞ is drawn i.i.d.

Realization of a Bilayer Elastic Topological Insulator

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Bilayer elastic wave topological insulators are experimentally realized, introducing the layer degree of freedom to access four topological phases. This enables diverse domain walls and transmission behaviors, including interlayer conversion and beam splitting.

Empirical and Statistical Evaluation of the Effectiveness of Four Lossless Data Compression Algorithms

open access: yesNigerian Journal of Technological Development, 2016
Data compression is the process of reducing the size of a file to effectively reduce storage space and communication cost. The evolvement in technology and digital age has led to an unparalleled usage of digital files in this current decade.

A new efficient predictor blending lossless image coder [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electronics and Telecommunications
In the paper a highly efficient algorithm for lossless image coding is described. The algorithm is a predictor blending one, a sample estimate is computed as a weighted sum of estimates given by subpredictors, here 27 ones, hence the name Blend-27.

A Method for CM EMI Suppression on PFC Converter Using Lossless Snubber with Chaotic Spread Spectrum

open access: yesEnergies, 2023
This paper proposes an improved common mode (CM) electromagnetic interference (EMI) suppression method in switching power supplies. The lossless snubber circuit can reduce du/dt and EMI in the high-frequency band.

Universal approximation of multi-copy states and universal quantum lossless data compression

open access: yes, 2008
We have proven that there exists a quantum state approximating any multi-copy state universally when we measure the error by means of the normalized relative entropy. While the qubit case was proven by Krattenthaler and Slater (IEEE Trans.

Autonomous Recognition of Retained Secretions in Central‐Airway Based on Deep Learning for Adult Patients Receiving Invasive Mechanical Ventilation

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This work presents a deep learning model to autonomously recognize and classify the secretion retention into three levels for patients receiving invasive mechanical ventilation, achieving 89.08% accuracy. This model can be implemented to ventilators by edge computing, whose feasibility is approved.

An Alternative Approach to Spontaneous Photon Triplets Generation

open access: yesAdvanced Physics Research, EarlyView.
Day by day, communication and computing technologies are progressing at a lightning speed, which is particularly true of the quantum version of these technologies (QIST). Increasingly, these technologies are emerging from unusual and sometimes bewildering quantum optical effects, which are based on exotic quantum physical theories.
