Semi-lossless text compression

Data Compression Conference, 2004. Proceedings. DCC 2004, 2004
A new notion, that of semi-lossless text compression, is introduced, and its applicability in various settings is investigated. First results suggest that it might be hard to exploit the additional redundancy of English texts, but the new methods could be useful in applications where the correct spelling is not important, such as in short emails, and ...

Secure lossless compression

2018 52nd Annual Conference on Information Sciences and Systems (CISS), 2018
The framework of secrecy by design is introduced and the fundamental limits of lossless data compression are analyzed for this setting. The main idea behind secrecy by design is to begin with an operational secrecy constraint, which is modeled by a secrecy function f s , and then to derive fundamental limits for the performance of the resulting secrecy

Lossless Data Compression

2018
As mentioned in Chap. 1, data compression describes methods of representing a source by a code whose average codeword length (or code rate) is acceptably small. The representation can be lossless (or asymptotically lossless) where the reconstructed source is identical (or identical with vanishing error probability) to the original source; or lossy ...

Wearable EEG via lossless compression

2016 38th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBC), 2016
This work presents a wearable multi-channel EEG recording system featuring a lossless compression algorithm. The algorithm, based in a previously reported algorithm by the authors, exploits the existing temporal correlation between samples at different sampling times, and the spatial correlation between different electrodes across the scalp.

Lossless compression of AVIRIS images

IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, 1996
Adaptive DPCM methods using linear prediction are described for the lossless compression of hyperspectral (224-band) images recorded by the Airborne Visible/Infrared Imaging Spectrometer (AVIRIS). The methods have two stages-predictive decorrelation (which produces residuals) and residual encoding.
