Qualitative Rating of Lossy Compression for Aerial Imagery by Neutrosophic WASPAS Method
The monitoring and management of consistently changing landscape patterns are accomplished through a large amount of remote sensing data using satellite images and aerial photography that requires lossy compression for effective storage and transmission.

Lossy image compression based on prediction error and vector quantisation
Lossy image compression has been gaining importance in recent years due to the enormous increase in the volume of image data employed for Internet and other applications. In a lossy compression, it is essential to ensure that the compression process does

On privacy amplification, lossy compression, and their duality to channel coding
We examine the task of privacy amplification from information-theoretic and coding-theoretic points of view. In the former, we give a one-shot characterization of the optimal rate of privacy amplification against classical adversaries in terms of the ...

Error Resilience for Block Compressed Sensing with Multiple-Channel Transmission
Compressed sensing is well known for its superior compression performance, in existing schemes, in lossy compression. Conventional research aims to reach a larger compression ratio at the encoder, with acceptable quality reconstructed images at the ...

Medically Relevant Criteria used in EEG Compression for Improved Post-Compression Seizure Detection
Biomedical signals aid in the diagnosis of different disorders and abnormalities. When targeting lossy compression of such signals, the medically relevant information that lies within the data should maintain its accuracy and thus its reliability.

Lossy Compression of Unordered Rooted Trees [PDF]
A classical compression method for trees is to exploit subtree repeats in the structure byrepresenting them by directed acyclic graphs. We propose a lossy compression method thatconsists in computing a structure with high redundancy that approximates the initial data.Trees are commonly used to represent hierarchical data appearing in computerscience or

This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

THE EFFECT OF LOSSY IMAGE COMPRESSION ON OBJECT BASED IMAGE CLASSIFICATION – WORLDVIEW-2 CASE STUDY [PDF]
Lossy compression is becoming increasingly used in remote sensing although its effect on the processing results has yet not been fully investigated.

Universal Sampling Rate Distortion
We examine the coordinated and universal rate-efficient sampling of a subset of correlated discrete memoryless sources followed by lossy compression of the sampled sources.

Humeanism and Exceptions in the Fundamental Laws of Physics [PDF]
It has been argued that the fundamental laws of physics do not face a ‘problem of provisos’ equivalent to that found in other scientific disciplines (Earman, Roberts and Smith 2002) and there is only the appearance of exceptions to physical laws if they ...
