Multiscale TRIP-based investigation of low-cycle fatigue of polycrystalline NiTi shape memory alloys
International journal of plasticity, 2019In this paper, a multiscale investigation of fatigue crack initiation in shape memory alloys (SMAs) based on Transformation Induced Plasticity (TRIP) is presented. A mechanism for fatigue crack initiation during cyclic stress-induced phase transformation

Low cycle fatigue behavior of precipitation-strengthened Cu-Cr-Zr contact wires
International Journal of Fatigue, 2020The low cycle fatigue behavior (Δet/2 = 0.4–1.0%) of a Cu-Cr-Zr alloy strengthened with nanoscale precipitates has been tested at room temperature. The results showed that cyclic softening occurs under all Δet/2 after cyclic hardening. However, the Cu-Cr-

The modern aircraft gas turbine engine produces power on demand hour upon hour and day in, day out. It is one of the most extensively used types of high‐speed rotating machinery as well as one of the most efficient converters of fuel into thrust. Reliability and long life with minimum maintenance depend on efficient monitoring of engine performance and

Initiation from Low Cycle Fatigue to Gigacycle Fatigue
Advanced Materials Research, 2014This paper is devoted to the initiation of fatigue crack in Armco iron from low cycle fatigue to gigacycle fatigue. It is shown that the basic mechanisms of initiation are very similar from a physical point of view: PSB and Grain boundary cracking. But the mechanical aspect is specific in LCF and in GCF.

Low-Cycle Fatigue Test on Stud Shear Connectors
Journal of Structural Engineering, 1997In steel-concrete composite beams particular attention has to be paid to the fatigue phenomena in the connection. If each part of the structure behaves elastically the problem can be faced with the classical load-life fatigue approach, but for long-span beams, the slip at interface may reach values that involve inelastic deformation of the connector ...

Improvement of low-cycle fatigue resistance in AISI 4140 steel by annealing treatment
International Journal of Fatigue, 2019The low-cycle fatigue (LCF) behaviour of AISI 4140 steel under annealed and as-received conditions was investigated at room temperature. The annealing treatment causes a marked decrease in mechanical strength but an increase in plastic energy and ...

Strain-Based Fatigue Analysis—Low Cycle Fatigue
2012When the plastic component the cyclic strain cannot be neglected and, indeed, prevails over the elastic one, stresses are no longer uniquely determined and must be put aside in the fatigue analysis. This is the case of structural discontinuities in general and of notches, in particular, where local strains can go well beyond the elastic limit of the ...
