Ultrafine versus coarse grained Al 5083 alloys: From low-cycle to very-high-cycle fatigue

open access: yesInternational Journal of Fatigue, 2019
The fatigue performance of coarse and ultrafine-grained (UFG) 5083 Al alloy were compared, from low to very high cycle fatigue. The UFG alloy exhibited cyclic hardening and predominant kinematic hardening.

Modelling the role of non metallic inclusions on the anisotropic fatigue behaviour of forged steel [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Forged components are known to show high cyclic and monotonic mechanical properties. This is mainly due to a better compactness and a finer microstructure introduced by the forming process. However, this good mechanical behaviour is sometimes a source of

Effect of Corrosion on the High Cycle Fatigue Strength of Martensitic Stainless Steel X12CrNiMoV12-3 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This paper addresses the effects of corrosion on the high cycle fatigue (HCF) strength of a high mechanical strength martensitic stainless steel (X12CrNiMoV12-3) that is used in aeronautic applications. HCF tests (between 105 and 107 cycles) were carried

Superior low-cycle fatigue properties of CoCrNi compared to CoCrFeMnNi

open access: yesScripta Materialia, 2020
We report on the low-cycle fatigue behavior of single-phase, face-centered cubic CoCrNi and CoCrFeMnNi at room temperature. Both alloys manifest cyclic hardening followed by softening and a near steady state until failure. CoCrNi exhibits higher strength,

Micro-mechanical modelling of high cycle fatigue behaviour of metals under multiaxial loads [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
An analysis of high cycle multiaxial fatigue behaviour is conducted through the numerical simulation of polycrystalline aggregates using the finite elementmethod.

Low Cycle Fatigue of Precipitation Hardened Aluminum Alloy [PDF]

open access: yesEngineering and Technology Journal, 2015
In this work, the influence of different heat treatments on the mechanical properties and fatigue life under low cycles of wrought 7075 aluminum alloy was experimentally investigated.

Study of Fatigue Damage on Low Cycle Fatigue.

open access: yesTRANSACTIONS OF THE JAPAN SOCIETY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERS Series A, 1999
To study fatigue damage on low cycle fatigue, tensile tests after fatigue were carried out using cylindrical specimens, and the relationship between the change of residual fracture ductility and the cycle ratio was investigated. The main results obtained are as follows : (1) Until the last stage of fatigue life (N/Nf=0.9 ; crack length 1.5 mm), the ...

New research findings on non-proportional low cycle fatigue [PDF]

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2019
One of the challenges regarding multiaxial fatigue damage predictions is non-proportional loading. Relevant studies have shown that these multiaxial loadings cause significant additional hardening and reduction in durability due to non-proportionality ...
