On design of fatigue resistance metallic parts [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Technical Review, 2020
This paper is devoted to design of metallic parts exposed to low cycle fatigue. Two flat discs, as representatives of these parts, were discussed. The first with 8, and the second with 64 eccentrically arranged holes.

Low cycle fatigue of short fibre reinforced polyamides

open access: yes, 2022
S.419-424In the automotive sector short-fibre reinforced polyamides play a major role for highly loaded components in under the hood application. In this field of use, the components are subject to different kinds of loading in the high cycle and the low

Analysis of biaxial proportional low-cycle fatigue crack propagation for hull inclined-crack plate based on accumulative plasticity

open access: yesSN Applied Sciences, 2022
Fracture failures of ship plates subjected to in-plane biaxial low-cycle fatigue loading are generally the coupling result of accumulative plasticity and biaxial low-cycle fatigue damage.

Analysis of biaxial proportional low-cycle fatigue and biaxial accumulative plasticity of hull inclined-crack plate

open access: yesInternational Journal of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, 2022
Fracture induced failure of plates in hull structures subjected to in-plane biaxial low-cycle fatigue loading are generally a combination of accumulative plasticity and biaxial low-cycle fatigue damage.

High-Temperature Low Cycle Fatigue Life Prediction and Experimental Research of Pre-Tightened Bolts

open access: yesMetals, 2018
Bolted connections are widely used in various mechanical structures due to their superior fastening properties. However, vibration and fatigue loads in the structure are likely to cause fatigue failure of the bolted joints, especially those under high ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Estimation of the fatigue strength distribution in high-cycle multiaxial fatigue taking into account the stress–strain gradient effect [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Based on the weakest link concept, a probabilistic approach in high-cycle multiaxial fatigue is developed to predict, for a given number of cycles, the probability distribution of the fatigue strength for metallic structural components. A three-parameter

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

The effect of shot peening on notched low cycle fatigue [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The improvement in low cycle fatigue life created by shot peening ferritic heat resistant steel was investigated in components of varying geometries based on those found in conventional power station steam turbine blades.
