Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Model for the administration of low-flow anaesthesia

open access: yesBritish Journal of Anaesthesia, 1998
A general (multiple-gas) three-compartment mass-balance model of the circle-absorber breathing circuit with intermittent positive-pressure ventilation has been developed. We propose it as a tool to determine flowmeter and vapourizer settings for inhalation anaesthesia by low-flow methods (less than 1 litre min-1 total fresh gas flow).

Identification of an appropriate low flow forecast model\ud for the Meuse River [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
This study investigates the selection of an appropriate low flow forecast model for the Meuse\ud River based on the comparison of output uncertainties of different models.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Fluctuations and Pinch-Offs Observed in Viscous Fingering

open access: yes, 2002
Our experiments on viscous (Saffman-Taylor) fingering in Hele-Shaw channels reveal several phenomena that were not observed in previous experiments. At low flow rates, growing fingers undergo width fluctuations that intermittently narrow the finger as ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

The Effect of Minimal, Low and Medium Flow Anesthesia on Intraoperative Neuromuscular Blocker Consumption: Prospective Cohort Study

open access: yesAnkara Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Mecmuası, 2019
Objectives:The aim of this study was to determine whether there would be an increase in the need for intra-operative neuromuscular blocker consumption due to better preservation of body temperature in low flow anesthesia.

The closed circuit and the low flow systems

open access: yesIndian Journal of Anaesthesia, 2013
A breathing system is defined as an assembly of components, which delivers gases from the anesthesia machine to the patients' airways. When the components are arranged as a circle, it is termed a circle system. The flow of exhaled gases is unidirectional in the system. The system contains a component (absorber), which absorbs exhaled carbon dioxide and

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.
