Failure of Low Pressure Feedwater Heater Tubing-A Case History

CORROSION 1986, 1986
Abstract A work program consisting of failure analysis, laboratory tests and feed-water chemistry monitoring was carried out to determine the root cause of low pressure Admiralty brass feedwater heater failures and recommend ammeliorative solutions. The results of this failure analysis showed that the tubes failed due to a

LQG/LTR robust control system design for low-pressure feedwater heater train

IEEE Proceedings on Southeastcon, 2002
The linear quadratic Gaussian with loop transfer recovery (LQG/LTR) control system design method is used to obtain a level control system for a nuclear plant low-pressure feedwater heater train. A control system design for robustness at the plant output is developed. Its performance and stability robustness are evaluated for given specifications.

Heating Performance and Application Analysis of the Low-Pressure Injection Heater With Tapered Mixing Space

ASME 2011 Power Conference, Volume 1, 2011
A new type of low-pressure injection heater was presented. The tapered structure of the heater’s mixture space was designed. Heating performance of the low-pressure heater was studied through the experimental method. Then, the influence of entrance parameters on the outlet temperature, the outlet pressure and the ejecting coefficient were analyzed. The

Innovative Field Repair of a Drain Cooler Top Plate in a Low-Pressure Feedwater Heater

Volume 2: Heat Exchanger Technologies; Plant Performance; Thermal Hydraulics and Computational Fluid Dynamics; Water Management for Power Systems; Student Competition, 2018
In 2014, the Turkey Point Nuclear Power Plant experienced a hole and a steam leak through the shell of the Unit 4, #3B Low Pressure (LP) Feedwater Heater (FWH) near the drains outlet nozzle. Although the location of the hole in the shell was below the centerline of the heater in the Drain Cooler (DC) Zone, a video probe inspection through the drains ...

Research on the Influence of High-Low Pressure-Volume Ratio and Discharge Pressure on the Heating Performance of Transcritical CO2 Single- Machine Two-Stage Compression Heat Pump Water Heater

Recent Patents on Mechanical Engineering, 2022
Background: In order to reduce global carbon emissions, a cross-critical CO2 singlemachine two-stage compression system was proposed. Due to the characteristics of cooling on the high-pressure side of the cross-critical cycle and bipolar compression on the single-stage, the discharge pressure and the high-low pressure volume ratio have a great ...
