EFFECTS DUE TO LOW VELOCITY IMPACT IN MECHANICAL OSCILLATORS

International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos, 1992
Phenomena caused by low velocity impacts in a class of forced impact oscillators are studied. It is shown that such impacts play an important role in the dynamics of general impacting systems. Features observed in numerical simulations of different oscillator models are associated with previous theoretical work on grazing impact.

Low Velocity Impact Testing on Laminated Composites

2021
The response of composite laminates from transverse impact loading is known to vary with the speed of impact. In Low Velocity Impact (LVI) conditions, boundary effects usually dominate since the impact duration is longer between the laminate and the impactor.

The low velocity impact response of sandwich structures

2013
In this study, the mechanical properties and fracture behaviour of a range of core materials have been investigated in order to elucidate the impact properties of sandwich structures. Initially, the compression properties of the core have been evaluated at quasi-static and impact rates of strain.
