A comparison of contact charging and impact ionization in low-velocity impacts: implications for dust detection in space [PDF]
We investigate the generation of charge due to collision between projectiles with sizes below ∼1 µm and metal surfaces at speeds ∼0.1 to 10 km s−1. This corresponds to speeds above the elastic limit and well below speeds where volume ionization can occur.

Experimental study of sandwich structures as armour against medium-velocity impacts [PDF]
An experimental impact study has been conducted on sandwich structures to identify and improve armour solutions for aeronautical applications. The objectives are to find the best configurations, i.e. the non-perforated targets with the minimal weight and

Palliatives for Low Velocity Impact Damage in Composite Laminates [PDF]
Fibre reinforced polymer laminated composites are susceptible to impact damage during manufacture, normal operation, maintenance, and/or other stages of their life cycle. Initiation and growth of such damage lead to dramatic loss in the structural integrity and strength of laminates. This damage is generally difficult to detect and repair.

Impact resistance of gypsum board subjected to low velocity impact
Cilj ovoga rada je istražiti otpornost na udar i ponašanje kod oštećenja gipsanih i složenih gipsanih ploča izloženih udaru male brzine. Ispitivanja udara male brzine provedenu su na četiri različita materijala ploča, i to gipsane ploče, gips+75 gr/m² mrežaste ploče, ploče od gipsa+zidna tapeta i ploče od gipsa+75 gr/m² mreže+tapeta.

Penetration of a woven CFRP laminate by a high velocity steel sphere impacting at velocities of up to 1875 m/s [PDF]
The impact of a woven 6 mm thick CFRP laminate has been subjected to impact by an annealed steel sphere up to velocities of 1875 m/s. It was observed that above a threshold impact energy, the percentage of kinetic energy dissipated by the laminate was ...

A study on the energy dissipation of several different CFRP-based targets completely penetrated by a high velocity projectile [PDF]
The threat of fragmenting munitions from MANPADS to civilian and military aircraft has, in recent years, become an ever increasing worry. One of the ways to enhance the protection of CFRP-based composites is to add lightweight materials that can provide ...
