Low voltage ride through (LVRT) ability of DFIG based wind energy conversion system II

2012 Students Conference on Engineering and Systems, 2012
Doubly Fed Induction Generators (DFIGs) are nowadays extensively used in variable speed wind power plants. Doubly fed induction generators (DFIG) offer many advantages such as reduced converter rating, low cost and reduced losses with an improved efficiency, easy implementation of power factor correction schemes, variable speed operation and four ...

Low-voltage ride through (LVRT) testing of full power converter for wind turbines using all-electronic equipment

8th IET International Conference on Power Electronics, Machines and Drives (PEMD 2016), 2016
This paper describes a laboratory platform for the low voltage ride through (LVRT) investigation of wind turbine (WT) generator based on full power back-to-back converters. The test bench is based on a power hardware in the loop (PHIL) platform emulating the behavior of wind turbines.

Reactive power capabilities of DFIG-based wind park for low-voltage ride-through (LVRT) performance

2013 International Conference on Quality, Reliability, Risk, Maintenance, and Safety Engineering (QR2MSE), 2013
This paper presents the principles and control schemes for the double-fed induction generator (DFIG)-based wind park. The wind turbine power tracking characteristics and the power flow mechanism of the DFIG-based wind plant are analyzed. The control strategies are presented, including the rotor-side converter (RSC) control, grid-side converter (GSC ...

Low Voltage Ride Through (LVRT) Capability Enhancement of Axial Flux Induction Generator-Based Wind Energy Conversion System

2020
With the remarkable increase in wind energy installed capacity, the wind energy conversion systems are also needed to be treated as conventional energy resources. These wind farms are required to be connected to grid as per grid codes during and as well as after the occurrence of short fault.

Onshore AC Grid Low Voltage Ride-Through (LVRT) of Diode-Rectifier Units based HVDC Transmission Systems for Offshore Wind Farms

2019 IEEE 10th International Symposium on Power Electronics for Distributed Generation Systems (PEDG), 2019
Diode-rectifier units based HVDC (DRU-HVDC) transmission systems, which consist of multiple distributed offshore DRUs and an onshore modular multilevel converter (MMC), are promising candidates for delivering offshore wind energy to shores in an efficient and cost-effective way.

Evaluation of Short Circuit Currents in Networks with Low Voltage Ride Through (LVRT) Enabled Voltage Source Converters (VSC) based Wind Turbines

2018 20th National Power Systems Conference (NPSC), 2018
Rapid depletion of the conventional energy sources has been a driving factor in the phenomenal advancements of renewable energy systems. Bulk integration of such renewable energy sources has given rise to a new dimension to various classical power system analysis problems impacting the system which need to be analysed before grid integration.

Nine-Switch-Converter-based DFIG Wind Power System and its dynamic port-current assigned approach for Low Voltage Riding Through (LVRT)

2015 IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition (APEC), 2015
This paper proposes a Doubly-Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) Wind Power System, which is driven by the novel Nine-Switch Converter (NSC). Considering the switches in the NSC are shared by two three-phase ports, a new adapted control method is proposed to flexibly control and fully use of the current capacity of the switches.

Low-voltage-ride-through (LVRT) capability of a phase-shifted-PWM STATCOM using the modular multilevel cascade converter based on single-star bridge-cells (MMCC-SSBC)

2013 IEEE Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition, 2013
This paper has an experimental discussion on low-voltage-ride-through (LVRT) capability of a phase-shifted-PWM STATCOM using the modular multilevel cascade converter based on single-star bridge-cells (MMCC-SSBC). The cluster-balancing control, that produces a significant effect on the LVRT capability, is modeled and analyzed with focus on either low ...
