Low dose and low dose rate radioluminescence dosimetry

Applied Radiation and Isotopes, 2023
Review is provided of a number of low-dose, low dose rate situations that in study require advances in the development of dosimetric facilities. Using a clinical linac set up to provide doses down to the few mGy level, the performance of a real-time radioluminescence system has then been illustrated, accommodating pulsed as well as continuous dose ...

Low-Dose Mammography

Radiology, 1973
The authors describe an improved mammographic technique employing a single-emulsion film in combination with a high-definition intensifying screen. This technique significantly reduces the radiation dosage per exposure and enhances the contrast of the soft-tissue structures of the breast.

Low-Dose Trabeculoplasty

American Journal of Ophthalmology, 1983
We treated 21 eyes (18 patients) with open-angle glaucoma by low-dose laser trabeculoplasty consisting of 25 laser burns spaced over one quadrant (90 degrees) of the trabecular meshwork. After one month these eyes showed an average decreased in intraocular pressure of 6.86 +/- 2.95 mm Hg.

Not Every Low-Dose Is Low-Dose: Impact of Revising Low-Dose CT Protocol on Mean Effective Radiation Exposure

Journal of Endourology, 2022
Introduction: According to the American Urological Association imaging guidelines, patients presenting with renal colic should undergo low-dose (LD) rather than standard-dose (SD) noncontrast CT. The aim of the present study was to assess how often physicians ordered LD CT scans and to calculate mean effective ...

Apoptosis induced by low-dose and low-dose-rate radiation

Cancer, 2002
It has been claimed that external radiation, as a treatment modality for malignant diseases, partly induces apoptosis. It is not known, however, whether therapeutic low-dose and low-dose-rate radiation are able to induce apoptosis. The effect of low-dose radiation on apoptosis induction in HeLa Hep2 cells was studied, and quantitation of the apoptotic ...

The OER at low dose-rates

The British Journal of Radiology, 1976
Interest in the treatment of human cancers with beam therapy at low dose-rates, with fractionation using multiple doses per day (Pierquin et al., 1974; Brown et al., 1974) and with the utilization of 252Cf neutrons at low dose-rates (Hall and Rossi, 1975) is steadily growing.

Cytarabine: Low-Dose, High-Dose, No Dose?

New England Journal of Medicine, 1983
Cytarabine is the mainstay of current treatment for acute myeloblastic leukemia and is associated with an expected remission rate of more than 50 per cent.
