Neutron dose effect relationships at low doses
Radiation and Environmental Biophysics, 1988Stimulated by recent observations of non-linearity in the dose effect relationship for the transformation of mammalian cells in vitro by fission neutron irradiation and the reverse dose rate effect in this system, the data for mutation induction in the stamen hairs of Tradescantia occidentalis has been re-examined.

Radiation risk is linear with dose at low doses
The British Journal of Radiology, 2005This paper presents a brief argument, based on a mechanistic approach, to show that radiation risk is linear with radiation dose from zero dose up. Similarities in cellular effects lead to the assumption of a common mechanism and the DNA double strand break is identified as the crucial radiation-induced lesion.

Combined low-dose clozapine with low-dose aripiprazole in a schizophrenic patient
Journal of Psychopharmacology, 2008Aripiprazole, a partial dopaminergic agonist, represents a well-tolerated and effective addition to the antipsychotic armamentarium. However, accumulated data indicates that aripiprazole may still induce extrapyramidal side effects (EPS) in susceptible patients.

Low-dose hypersensitivity after fractionated low-dose irradiation in vitro
International Journal of Radiation Biology, 2001It was demonstrated previously that some radioresistant tumour cell lines respond to decreasing single, low radiation doses by becoming increasingly radiosensitive. This paper reports the response of four radioresistant human glioma cell lines to multiple low-dose radiation exposures given at various intervals.

Over the last decade, three-dimensional contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance angiography (CE-MRA) has emerged as a widely accepted and powerful technique for diagnostic assessment of almost all vascular territories. Its non-invasive nature and lack of ionizing radiation, its potential to cover a large field of view and the safety of gadolinium-based ...

Low-Dose Radiosurgery for Meningiomas
Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery, 1999Gamma Knife radiosurgery is an effective treatment for meningiomas. However, it may be difficult to deliver what is currently considered an optimal dose, especially if the tumor is large or adjacent to critical structures. Eleven cases are presented with a follow-up of more than 12 months where the margin dose did not exceed 10 Gy.

Low doses of radiation are frequently inferred to mean doses of the order of 10-100 mGy, regardless of the end point or the nature of the irradiation, as if the energy were deposited uniformly through all targets. Yet, the fluence in a charged particle beam at which there is an average of 1 charged particle transit per target leaves 37% of the targets ...

Mammography—oncogenecity at low doses
Journal of Radiological Protection, 2009Controversy exists regarding the biological effectiveness of low energy x-rays used for mammography breast screening. Recent radiobiology studies have provided compelling evidence that these low energy x-rays may be 4.42 +/- 2.02 times more effective in causing mutational damage than higher energy x-rays.
