Hybrid low-thrust transfers to eight-shaped orbits for polar observation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
In this paper, transfers from low Earth orbit (LEO) to so-called eight-shaped orbits at the collinear libration points in the circular restricted three-body problem are investigated.

CD44v, S1PR1, HER3, MET and cancer‐associated amino acid transporters are promising targets for the pancreatic cancers characterized using mAb

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Novel mAbs could detect cancer‐associated membrane proteins on various type of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinomas (PDAC) by flow cytometry with viable PDAC cells and by immunohistochemistry with PDAC tissues. Results of protein expression were substantiated by mRNA expression by The Cancer Genome Atlas.

Impact of lunar oxygen production on direct manned Mars missions [PDF]

open access: yes
A manned Mars program made up of six missions is evaluated to determine the impact of using lunar liquid oxygen (LOX) as a propellant. Two departure and return nodes, low Earth orbit and low lunar orbit, are considered, as well as two return vehicle ...

Alkane biosynthesis gene expression and its increased production in recombinant cyanobacteria

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The transcription and mRNA structures of the alkane biosynthesis genes ado/aar were analysed in the representative cyanobacteria PCC 6803 and SK1‐2‐1, which produce C17H36 and C15H32, respectively. PCC 6803 transconjugants carrying these genes showed a 1.8‐ to 2.3‐fold increase in C17H36 production.

Comparison of Low Earth Orbit and Geosynchronous Earth Orbits [PDF]

open access: yes
The technological, environmental, social, and political ramifications of low Earth orbits as compared to geosynchronous Earth orbits for the solar power satellite (SPS) are assessed.

GGOS-D Integration with Low Earth Orbiters

open access: yes, 2010
Within GGOS-D the attempts of determining a terrestrial reference frame have been enriched by solutions coming from the integrated approach where the whole GPS constellation in combination with the Low Earth Orbiters CHAMP and GRACE are processed together by dynamic satellite orbit adjustment delivering all relevant parameters within one step.

Hydrophobicity causes anomalous migration of cystine/glutamate antiporter SLC7A11 in SDS‐PAGE with low acrylamide concentration

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
SLC7A11 frequently migrates faster in SDS‐PAGE. The present study found that the high hydrophobicity of SLC7A11 causes its anomalous migration in SDS‐PAGE with a low concentration of acrylamide gel. Replacing isoleucine with asparagine reduced hydrophobicity and restored its normal migration at 55 kDa, revealing the role of hydrophobicity and gel ...
