A Low-fidelity Simulator for the Development of Vascular Ligation Skills

Alternatives to Laboratory Animals, 2022
Training simulators can facilitate the acquisition and development of basic surgical skills, and they constitute a safe and humane method that does not harm animals in the process. The objective of this work was to create and evaluate a low-cost simulator to help undergraduate students of veterinary medicine acquire and practise vascular ligation ...

Ligation device assisting low anterior anastomosis

Diseases of the Colon & Rectum, 1995
The use of the circular stapler has enabled surgeons to perform very low anterior resections where previously abdominoperineal proctectomy would be performed for carcinoma of the rectum. The use of the roticulator or other linear stapler devices has facilitated these anastomoses and precluded the necessity for pursestring sutures, thereby reducing the ...

Comparison of Friction among Low-friction Ligation, Conventional Ligation and Self-ligation with Conventional-Stainless Steel and Esthetic Brackets: An in vitro Study

Journal of Orofacial Research, 2014
Abstract Background Among the numerous factors affecting friction between the bracket-archwire interface, the method of ligation is one of the most important. A number of ways have been proposed to reduce this friction, including self-ligating brackets and more recently Slide™ ( Leone SpA, Firenze, Italy ) low-friction ligatures.

Spectroscopic studies of myoglobin at low pH: heme ligation kinetics

Biochemistry, 1991
On the basis of the characterization of heme structure and ligation in equilibrium, we explore both proximal and distal ligation kinetics of myoglobin below pH 4. Upon photolysis of MbCO, a significant five-coordinate heme population is observed, with an intact iron-histidine bond that persists on the time scale of CO rebinding.
