Sex‐Specific Atlantic Salmon Upstream Passage and Fallback at a Natural Cascade After Dam Removal
ABSTRACT In the Boquet River (NY, USA) a low‐head dam set above a ~200‐m bedrock cascade was removed in 2015. We used radio‐telemetry to assess landlocked Atlantic salmon passage at the remaining cascade (2020, 2022). Across years, 52% of males (13/25) attempted cascade passage whereas females made no discernable attempts (0/11).

Striking for a Just Transition? North American Auto Unions and the Electric Vehicle Transition
ABSTRACT Decarbonization heightens risks for workers, but union strategies shape how these risks are managed and whether new jobs offer quality employment. This paper compares U.S. and Canadian auto unions during the 2023 Detroit Three bargaining, focusing on strategic capacities and internal politics to explain their divergent responses to the EV ...

Firm‐Level Political Risk and Earnings Manipulation
ABSTRACT Using recently developed proxies for firm‐level political risk and earnings manipulation, we test the limited attention theory. Contrary to Hirshleifer and Teoh's core prediction that investor attention is associated with less managerial manipulation, we find that firm‐level political risk, serving as a proxy for investor attention, is ...

More Competition, Better Products: Evidence From Tariff Cuts
ABSTRACT This article examines how increased competition affects product and process innovation. I combine plausibly exogenous variation in foreign competition induced by large tariff cuts with a difference‐in‐differences strategy and find that firms increase their product patenting in response to increased foreign competition, but, on average, foreign

Uniform Anisotropic Regularity and Low Mach Number Limit of Non-isentropic Ideal MHD Equations with a Perfectly Conducting Boundary [PDF]
We prove the low Mach number limit of non-isentropic ideal magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) equations with general initial data in the half-space whose boundary satisfies the perfectly conducting wall condition.

Genes, fish and fisheries: translating science into policy
Abstract The 2024 Annual Symposium of the Fisheries Society of the British Isles reviewed the burgeoning impact of ‘omics’ technologies on fish ecology, management and forecasting. As with life sciences more generally, major advances in speed, cost‐effectiveness and breadth of applications in ‘omics’ has had profound societal and environmental impacts.
