Pressure-induced electronic topological transitions in low dimensional superconductors

open access: yes, 2003
In the high-Tc cuprates, the unusual dependence of Tc on external pressure results from the combination of the nonmonotonic dependence of Tc on hole doping or hole-doping distribution among inequivalent layers, and from an ``intrinsic'' contribution ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Simultaneous measurement of pressure evolution of crystal structure and superconductivity in FeSe0.92 using designer diamonds

open access: yes, 2012
Simultaneous high pressure x-ray diffraction and electrical resistance measurements have been carried out on a PbO type {\alpha}-FeSe0.92 compound to a pressure of 44 GPa and temperatures down to 4 K using designer diamond anvils at synchrotron source ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Twin-spool turbopumps for ''low'' net positive suction pressure operations [PDF]

open access: yes, 1970
Modified single-shaft turbopump incorporates inducer and main pump, each separately driven at different speeds through coaxial-shaft arrangement. Inducer operates at low speed for low net positive suction pressure, main pump operates at high speed to ...

Collision and Diffusion in Microwave Breakdown of Nitrogen Gas in and around Microgaps [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The microwave induced breakdown of N2 gas in microgaps was modeled using the collision frequency between electrons and neutral molecules and the effective electric field concept.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Suppression of ferromagnetism in CeSi_1.81 under temperature and pressure

open access: yes, 2006
We have studied the pressure dependence of the magnetization of single crystalline CeSi_1.81. At ambient pressure ferromagnetism develops below T_C = 9.5 Below ~ 5 K an additional shoulder in low-field hysteresis loops and a metamagnetic crossover around
