A spectral slit approach to doubletalk detection
A new class of doubletalk detector based on exploiting a spectral slit is proposed. This is achieved by spectrally deleting a frequency band in the far-end signal such that when the near-end signal is present, only the near-end spectral information is ...

Detection of image structures using the Fisher information and the Rao metric
In many detection problems, the structures to be detected are parameterized by the points of a parameter space. If the conditional probability density function for the measurements is known, then detection can be achieved by sampling the parameter space ...

Posterior Probability Matching and Human Perceptual Decision Making. [PDF]
Probability matching is a classic theory of decision making that was first developed in models of cognition. Posterior probability matching, a variant in which observers match their response probabilities to the posterior probability of each response ...

Due to the plate formats and multiform outdoor illumination conditions during the image acquisition phase, it is challenging to find effective license plate detection (LPD) method. This paper aims to develop a new detection method for identifying vehicle

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

A New Noncoherent Gaussian Signaling Scheme for Low Probability of Detection Communications
We propose a novel, Gaussian signaling mechanism for low probability of detection (LPD) communication systems with either single or multiple antennas. The new scheme is designed to allow the noncoherent detection of Gaussian-distributed signals, enabling LPD communications using signals that follow the complex Gaussian distribution in the time and ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Covert Communications in a Hybrid DF/AF Relay System
In this paper, we study covert communications in a hybrid decode-and-forward (DF)/ amplify-and-forward (AF) relay system. The considered relay in normal operation forwards messages from a source node to a destination node in either DF or AF mode on ...

The physical dimensions and shape of bacterial cells define the surface area available to acquire nutrients and the volume available for synthesizing proteins and DNA. Here, we use computational systems biology to decode the importance of cell geometry as a major determinant of prokaryotic phenotype, including growth rate and metabolic efficiency. This
