New insights into epileptic spasm generation and treatment from the TTX animal model

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, EarlyView.
Abstract Currently, we have an incomplete understanding of the mechanisms underlying infantile epileptic spasms syndrome (IESS). However, over the past decade, significant efforts have been made to develop IESS animal models to provide much‐needed mechanistic information for therapy development.

A Comprehensive Review of Fault‐Current Limiter Technologies for Smart and Resilient Power Systems

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
This review compares superconducting, solid‐state, and hybrid fault‐current limiters (FCLs) for modern alternating current, direct current, and hybrid grids. It shows that optimal FCL selection depends on fault characteristics, network configuration, voltage level, protection coordination, and resilience requirements rather than on a universally ...

A Control Strategy With Hybrid Compressor Modeling for Electric Vehicle CO2 Heat Pump Systems

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
A hybrid PSO‐BP compressor sub‐model is developed and embedded in a MATLAB/Simscape physical model of a transcritical CO2 heat pump system for electric vehicles. Based on this high‐fidelity platform, a phased variable‐PTC cooperative control strategy is proposed and evaluated.

Exercising electrocardiograms from Thoroughbred racehorses with exercise associated sudden death

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Exercise associated sudden death (EASD), defined as a fatal collapse in a closely monitored and previously presumed clinically healthy horse that occurs during exercise or within approximately 1 h after exercise, is disproportionately more common in equine than in human athletes.

Impact of evidence‐based information on horse owners' misconceptions of colic

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Misconceptions can be defined as ‘false, persistent beliefs’ or ‘inaccurate, prior knowledge’ and can influence decision‐making. Objectives To investigate the impact of evidence‐based information on UK horse owners' decision‐making for colic. Study Design Mixed‐methods cross‐sectional study.
