Tectono-thermal Evolution of the Lower Paleozoic Petroleum Source Rocks in the Southern Lublin Trough: Implications for Shale Gas Exploration from Maturity Modelling

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2018
The Lower Paleozoic basins of eastern Poland have recently been the focus of intensive exploration for shale gas. In the Lublin Basin potential unconventional play is related to Lower Silurian source rocks.

C2α‐carbanion‐protonating glutamate discloses tradeoffs between substrate accommodation and reaction rate in actinobacterial 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Enzymes of the 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase group catalyze the condensation of formyl‐CoA with aldehydes or ketones. Thus, by structural adaptation of active sites, practically any pharmaceutically and industrially important 2‐hydroxyacid could be biotechnologically synthesized. Combining crystal structure analysis, active site mutations and kinetic assays,

The depression type of the Upper Visean-Serpukhovian succession in the Subpolar Urals

open access: yesЛитосфера, 2015
The Upper Visean-Serpukhovian deep-water shelf succession is described in the Subpolar Urals. Turbidite model of the sequence forming and direction of the carbonate material transport are proposed. The bioherm and shoal facial belt of the shelf margin is

Long‐term hippocampal alterations and cognitive impairment in a murine model of surgical sepsis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Using a mouse model of surgical sepsis, we tested long‐term memory and analyzed the transcriptome of single cells isolated from the hippocampus. Survivor mice showed worse memory, loss of certain brain cell subpopulations, and abnormal immune cell activity—suggesting that post‐sepsis brain alterations may be linked to cognitive deficits.

Sedimentology of the Mid-Visean limestones of the southern part of the Askrigg Block, North Yorkshire

open access: yes, 1984
The earliest Carboniferous deposits, resting with profound unconformity on Lower Palaeozoic rocks, have been mapped across their entire outcrop area on the Askrigg Block.

Molecular dynamics simulations of positively selected codons in FcγRI reveal novel biochemical binding properties

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

Specific features of carbon and oxygen stable isotopes (δ13C and δ18O) geochemistry in the isolated carbonate platform section on the east of the Urals (the Famennian and Tournaisian Stages)

open access: yesЛитосфера, 2016
New data about the stable carbon and oxygen isotopic composition for the Frasnian/Famennian and Devonian/Carboniferous boundary intervals, as well as for middle and upper parts of the Tournasian Stage (the Lower Carboniferous), are represented in this ...

Acute caffeine treatment protects the developing retina from ischemia‐induced cell death

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Caffeine reduces cell death in the developing retina under ischemia (OGD). This effect does not involve BDNF upregulation or antioxidant pathways (NRF2/VEGF). Neuroprotection occurs mainly through adenosine A2A receptor antagonism, decreasing glutamate release and excitotoxicity, highlighting caffeine's potential as an acute neuroprotective agent in ...

Geochemistry of severely biodegraded oils in the Carboniferous volcanic reservoir of the Chepaizi Uplift, Junggar Basin, NW China

open access: yesEnergy Exploration & Exploitation, 2018
A substantial amount of petroleum was recently discovered in the Carboniferous volcanic reservoir of the Chepaizi Uplift in the western Junggar Basin, yet the source is still indefinitive.

LATE CARBONIFEROUS BRACHIOPODS FROM KARAKORUM, PAKISTAN

open access: yesRivista Italiana di Paleontologia e Stratigrafia, 1999
Carboniferous rocks from North Karakorum display sharp lateral variations in lithology and thickness suggesting accumulation in half-grabens during continental rifting between the Karakorum block and northern Gondwana. Different Carboniferous successions,
