SPHINX31 acts as a SRPK1 inhibitor targeting the ATR/DNA‐PKcs/CHK1 replicative checkpoint to inhibit cell growth in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The kinase SRPK1 directly interacts with the protein TOPBP1 and regulates the pre‐mRNA splicing of WIZ thereby contributing to the activation of the ATR/CHK1 replicative checkpoint in response to replicative stress. This allows cancer cells' genomic stability and survival.

Laboratory-Estimation of Lower Temperature Threshold and Thermal Constant (DDs) for Development of Spodoptera frugiperda and Spodoptera littoralis (Noctuidae: Lepidoptera) under Varying Temperature Regimes and Host Plants [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Plant Protection and Pathology
The fall armyworm, Spodoptera frugiperda and the cotton leafworm, Spodoptera littoralis are among themost important pests attacking several plant species and causing economic losses. Although, polyphagous speciescan feed on a wide range of plant species,

The Stochastics of Threshold Accepting: Analysis of an Application to the Uniform Design Problem [PDF]

open access: yes
Threshold Accepting (TA) is a powerful optimization heuristic from the class of stochastic local search algorithms. It has been applied successfully to different optimization problems in statistics and econometrics, including the uniform design problem ...

Temperature-Induced Self-Compensating Defect Traps and Gain Thresholds in Colloidal Quantum Dots

open access: yes, 2019
Continuous-wave (CW) lasing was recently achieved in colloidal quantum dots (CQDs) by lowering the threshold through the introduction of biaxial strain. However, the CW laser threshold is still much higher than the femtosecond threshold.

Temperature-Dependent THz Properties and Emission of Organic Crystal BNA

open access: yes, 2023
As high-average power ultrafast lasers become increasingly available for nonlinear conversion, the temperature dependence of the material properties of nonlinear crystals becomes increasingly relevant.

Engineering IL‐4 resistant proinflammatory human myeloid cells for cancer immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed a scalable workflow to generate proinflammatory human myeloid cells. CRISPR/Cas9‐edited CD34+ hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells were expanded and differentiated with M‐CSF. Deletion of STAT6 or STAT6/NFKB1 enhanced macrophage proinflammatory gene expression and cytokine secretion in the presence of IL‐4 while maintaining antibody ...

Tumour‐proximal deep serum proteomics identifies biomarkers associated with ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
New biomarkers are needed for early ovarian cancer detection. Ovarian (tumour‐proximal) and peripheral vein serum from healthy women and patients with benign or malignant tumours underwent nanoparticle‐enriched deep proteomics. Ovarian serum yielded more protein identifications and revealed tumour‐reflective signatures.

Directed evolution of enzymes at the crossroads of tradition and innovation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
An iterative cycle of data‐driven enzyme optimization comprising four stages: genetic diversification of a template enzyme, expression of protein variants, high‐throughput evaluation, and machine‐learning‐guided redesign of the next variant library.

When do Indians feel hot? Internet searches indicate seasonality suppresses adaptation to heat

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Letters, 2018
In a warming world an increasing number of people are being exposed to heat, making a comfortable thermal environment an important need. This study explores the potential of using Regional Internet Search Frequencies (RISF) for air conditioning devices ...

Hyperosmotic stress‐induced redistribution of pre‐mRNA cleavage factor I subunits is associated with shifts in alternative polyadenylation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Hyperosmotic stress triggers the relocation of the CFIm complex from the nucleus to the cytoplasm. This shift creates a nuclear ‘stoichiometric bottleneck’, limiting CFIm availability for mRNA processing. Consequently, specific mRNAs like NUDT21 and DICER1 undergo targeted 3′UTR shortening, demonstrating how spatial protein dynamics drive rapid ...
