Planosol soil sample size for computerized tomography measurement of physical parameters

open access: yesScientia Agricola, 2003
Computerized tomography (CT) is an important tool in Soil Science for noninvasive measurement of density and water content of soil samples. This work aims to describe the aspects of sample size adequacy for Planosol (Albaqualf) and to evaluate procedures

Tropicalization of the Temperate Zone: Spatiotemporal Variability of Winter Warming and Declining Freeze Days Across the United States

open access: yesInternational Journal of Climatology, EarlyView.
Unique characteristics of winter daily minimum (Tmin) and maximum (Tmax) temperatures and freeze days across the conterminous United States from 1952 to 2024 are examined. Results show spatial heterogeneity in Tmin/Tmax warming rates across the tropical‐temperate transition zone in the southeastern United States, and that the highest temperature on the

Changes in microbial biomass and grain yield of rice varieties in response to the alternate wet and dry water regime in the inland valley of derived savanna [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural Sciences (Belgrade), 2019
This investigation tested the hypothesis that the alternate wet and dry (AWD) water regime would increase soil microbial biomass carbon (MBC), microbial biomass nitrogen (MBN) and microbial count.

Extreme Climate Events in Morocco: Historical Analysis and Future Projections Based on CMIP6 Simulations

open access: yesInternational Journal of Climatology, EarlyView.
Historical observations and bias‐corrected CMIP6 projections reveal intensifying warm extremes, declining cold events and increasingly irregular precipitation patterns across Morocco. Future warming, particularly under SSP5‐8.5, produces an almost linear amplification of heat, aridity and hydrological stress, leading to longer droughts and more intense

Assessing the Performance of the Copernicus European Regional Reanalysis Dataset in Reproducing Extreme Weather Events in Poland

open access: yesInternational Journal of Climatology, EarlyView.
Global reanalyses, for example ERA5 and ERA5‐Land, tend to misrepresent the local‐scale weather extremes due to the limited spatial resolution. In this paper CERRA shows clear and consistent improvements over ERA5 and ERA5‐Land in representing extreme temperature and precipitation in Poland, particularly for localized and short‐lived heavy rainfall ...

Evaluating Reference Evapotranspiration (ETo) Calculation Methods and Quantifying Climate‐Driven Change in Irrigation Demand Across Nepal's Terai

open access: yesInternational Journal of Climatology, EarlyView.
Framework illustrating the comparison of different reference evapotranspiration (ETo) estimation methods and the integration of baseline ETo, crop water requirement (CWR), and irrigation water requirement (IWR) calculations with downscaled CMIP6 climate projections under SSP245 and SSP585 scenarios for the mid‐century and late‐century periods across ...

Climatology and Trends of Sub‐Daily Precipitation Extremes in Croatia

open access: yesInternational Journal of Climatology, EarlyView.
Sub‐daily extreme precipitation indices reveal pronounced spatial variability, with the highest intensities and frequencies across the Adriatic region and the highlands. Seasonal and diurnal patterns highlight distinct regional behaviour, including summer maxima over the continental interior and nocturnal or early‐morning peaks along the Adriatic coast.

Changing Water Resources in the Indus Basin: A Multi‐Model Budyko‐Based Analysis

open access: yesInternational Journal of Climatology, EarlyView.
Budyko‐based analysis evaluates historical (1962–2005) and future hydroclimatic change across the Indus River Basin. Budyko shifts indicate rising atmospheric evaporative demand and increasing energy limitation under future scenarios. ABSTRACT Assessing hydroclimatic variability and future water availability is crucial for sustainable water‐resource ...
