Alterations of plasma lysophosphatidylcholine species in obesity and weight loss. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Obesity and related diseases of the metabolic syndrome contribute to the major health problems in industrialized countries. Alterations in the metabolism of lipid classes and lipid species may significantly be involved in these metabolic overload ...

Galectin-1 in myelin repair [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Galectin-1 (Gal-1) is a member of a highly conserved family of animal lectins which binds to the common disaccharide [Galβ(1-4)-GlcNAc] on both N- and O-glycans decorating cell surface glycoconjugates.

Robot‐Assisted Measurement of the Critical Micelle Concentration

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 7, Issue 3, March 2025.
The study introduces (SIMO) smart integrator for manual operations, a robotic platform for precise, repeatable determination of (CMC) critical micelle concentration in surfactants. SIMO reduces standard deviation by 80% compared to manual methods. Surfactant, dye, and diluent selection, robotic protocols, and data handling are detailed.

Effects of lysophosphatidylcholine on the oxidative burst response, inflammatory cytokine secretion, and Escherichia coli killing in polymorphonuclear neutrophils isolated from Holstein heifer calves

open access: yesJDS Communications
The neonatal bovine immune system is immunonaïve at birth, making newborn calves reliant on passive immunity acquired through colostrum for protection.

Adherence to the Mediterranean and Mediterranean‐Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension Intervention for Neurodegenerative Delay (MIND) Diets and Parkinson's Disease Incidence in Women: Results from the Prospective E3N Cohort

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Objective The evidence regarding adherence to dietary patterns and Parkinson's disease (PD) risk is inconsistent. Because of the long prodromal PD phase, reverse causation represents a major threat to investigations of diet in relation to PD. We examined whether adherence to the Mediterranean (MED) and Mediterranean‐Dietary Approaches to Stop ...

Dietary Lysophosphatidylcholine Improves the Uptake of Astaxanthin and Modulates Cholesterol Transport in Pacific White Shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei

open access: yesAntioxidants
Astaxanthin (AST), functioning as an efficient antioxidant and pigment, is one of the most expensive additives in shrimp feeds. How to improve the uptake efficiency of dietary astaxanthin into farmed shrimp is of significance.

Pulse Shape Analysis and Identification of Multipoint Events in a Large-Volume Proportional Counter in an Experimental Search for 2K Capture Kr-78

open access: yes, 2010
A pulse shape analysis algorithm and a method for suppressing the noise component of signals from a large copper proportional counter in the experiment aimed at searching for 2K capture of Kr-78 are described. These signals correspond to a compound event

Children With ASD Do Not Understand Hidden Emotions Before False Belief Attribution

open access: yesAutism Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Previous studies concluded that theory of mind (ToM) development is deviant in autism spectrum disorders (ASD). Typically developing children's ability to understand that one may hide their emotion would be acquired before false belief understanding in children with ASD (e.g., Peterson and Wellman 2019), but with contradictory results (e.g ...
