Optimising air quality prediction in smart cities with hybrid particle swarm optimization‐long‐short term memory‐recurrent neural network model

open access: yesIET Smart Cities, Volume 6, Issue 3, Page 156-179, September 2024.
In the proposed model, input and recurrent connections can be dropped from activation and weight updates using the dropout regularisation approach, and it utilises a Curiosity‐based Motivation model to construct a novel motivational model, which helps in the reconstruction of LSTM‐RNN.

FloodNet: Low‐Cost Ultrasonic Sensors for Real‐Time Measurement of Hyperlocal, Street‐Level Floods in New York City

open access: yesWater Resources Research, Volume 60, Issue 5, May 2024.
Abstract Flooding is one of the most dangerous and costly natural hazards, and has a large impact on infrastructure, mobility, public health, and safety. Despite the disruptive impacts of flooding and predictions of increased flooding due to climate change, municipalities have little quantitative data available on the occurrence, frequency, or extent ...

Energy Efficient Channel State Classification for Lifetime Enhancement of LPWA Networks [PDF]

open access: yes2019 11th International Conference on Communication Systems & Networks (COMSNETS), 2019
Current Low Power Wide Area Network (LPWAN) wireless transceivers are designed, or configured at deployment time, to function assuming a worse-case application scenario. Most of the time, they waste a significant amount of energy when operated under favourable channel conditions.

Lattice piecewise affine approximation of explicit nonlinear model predictive control with application to trajectory tracking of mobile robot

open access: yesIET Control Theory &Applications, Volume 18, Issue 2, Page 149-159, January 2024.
This paper proposes a lattice PWA approximation method based on explicit linear MPC to effectively track the trajectories of fast nonlinear robots. The lattice PWA model is used both in approximating the nonlinear dynamics of the mobile robot and the optimal control laws of explicit linear MPCs.
