10.2 Tuberculosis, 2016Introduction Rates of Tuberculosis (TB) in England remain comparatively high. About 72% of TB cases in the UK occur among non-UK born individuals, mostly as a result of reactivation of latent TB infection (LTBI). Programmatic screening for LTBI is a key intervention of the TB strategy for England.

[Present activity of BCG and LTBI treatment for infants in Japan].
Kekkaku : [Tuberculosis], 2011I analyzed the BCG vaccination and treatment of latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) for infants notified in 2008 in Japan. BCG was not recommended and treatment of LTBI was the main activity for prevention of TB in infants from birth to age 2 months. The majority of notified LTBI cases were detected by contact surveys.
