Lucas Pseudoprimes [PDF]

open access: yesMathematics of Computation, 1980
We define several types of pseudoprimes with respect to Lucas sequences and prove the analogs of various theorems about ordinary pseudoprimes. For example, we show that Lucas pseudoprimes are rare and we count the Lucas sequences modulonwith respect to whichnis a Lucas pseudoprime.

On the intersections of Fibonacci, Pell, and Lucas numbers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We describe how to compute the intersection of two Lucas sequences of the forms $\{U_n(P,\pm 1) \}_{n=0}^{\infty}$ or $\{V_n(P,\pm 1) \}_{n=0}^{\infty}$ with $P\in\mathbb{Z}$ that includes sequences of Fibonacci, Pell, Lucas, and Lucas-Pell numbers.

The quaternionic Gauss-Lucas Theorem [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The classic Gauss-Lucas Theorem for complex polynomials of degree $d\ge2$ has a natural reformulation over quaternions, obtained via rotation around the real axis. We prove that such a reformulation is true only for $d=2$.

Lucas vs. Lucas: On Inequality and Growth [PDF]

open access: yesIMF Working Papers, 2007
Lucas (2004) asserts that "Of the tendencies that are harmful to sound economics, the most seductive, and in my opinion the most poisonous, is to focus on questions of distribution... The potential for improving the lives of poor people by finding different ways of distributing current production is nothing compared to the apparently limitless ...

The current status of orchard meadows in Central Europe: Multi-source area estimation in Saxony (Germany) and the Czech Republic

open access: yesMoravian Geographical Reports, 2019
Orchard meadows are appreciated as an integrated land use of high cultural and biological value. While such meadows are typical habitats for temperate Europe, they experienced a decline in their total area during the second half of the 20th century, both

Primitive divisors of Lucas and Lehmer sequences [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
Stewart reduced the problem of determining all Lucas and Lehmer sequences whose $n$-th element does not have a primitive divisor to solving certain Thue equations.

The Potential of Open Geodata for Automated Large-Scale Land Use and Land Cover Classification

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2019
This study examines the potential of open geodata sets and multitemporal Landsat satellite data as the basis for the automated generation of land use and land cover (LU/LC) information at large scales.
