Excitonic Luminescence of Hemiporphyrazines [PDF]

open access: yesInorganic Chemistry, 2012
Metal-free hemiporphyrazine (HpH2) is a notoriously insoluble material possessing interesting photophysical properties. Here we report the synthesis, structure, and photophysical properties of an octahedral zinc trans-ditriflate hemiporphyrazine complex “HpH2Zn(OTf)2” that contains a neutral hemiporphyrazine ligand.

Nonthermal Plasma Reduction of Nickel Oxide Layers by Atmospheric Pressure Dielectric Barrier Discharge in Argon/Hydrogen

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work explores the reduction of nickel oxide layers using dielectric barrier discharge plasma in an argon–hydrogen atmosphere. The results reveal a strong temperature dependence, enabling complete reduction of thick oxide layers at 200°C within seconds.

NIR‐I Activated Orthogonal NIR‐IIb/c Emissions in a Lanthanide‐Doped Nanoparticle for Fluorescence Imaging and Information Encryption

open access: yesAdvanced Science
Applying the orthogonal principle for distinguishable second near‐infrared (NIR‐II) emissions has brought new dimensions for ratio fluorescence imaging (RFI) detection and information encryption, deepening the tissue detection depth and improving signal ...

Recycling of NiTi Shape Memory Alloys: Fundamental and Technological Aspects of a Vacuum Induction Melting Processing Route

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The present study investigates recycling of NiTi shape memory alloys via vacuum induction melting. An ingot was synthesized from elemental Ni and Ti and subjected to three subsequent remelting cycles. Remelting increases process durations and impurity levels and adversely affects microstructures and functional properties.

Comparative study of the luminescence of Al2O3:C and Al2O3 crystals under synchrotron radiation excitation

open access: yes, 2022
S.41-44The work is related to studying the luminescence of F and F+ centers and excitons localized around F-like centers in Al2O3 host based on the results of the comparative investigation of the luminescent properties of Al2O3 and Al2O3:C crystals under

Influence of Surface Finish on the Tribological Performance of AlTiBN Coatings Deposited on Forming Tools

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Aluminum and nitride coatings are used in industry because they are hard, resist wear, and protect against oxidation. Adding boron can improve friction behavior and other properties. This study tests coatings on surfaces with different finishes. Results show smoother surfaces perform better, while rough ones wear faster, although coatings can reduce ...

Strain‐Programmable Luminescent Adhesive Patch With Tartrazine‐Mediated Optical Skin Clearing for Photochemical Tissue Bonding

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We propose a suture‐complementary approach that integrates optical skin clearing with a strain‐programmable luminescent adhesive patch. Hyaluronic acid promotes transdermal delivery of tartrazine to improve optical clearing and stabilizes its interaction with a photosensitizer. Optical clearing increases the penetration depth of visible light into skin,

Hyperspectral cathodoluminescence imaging of modern and fossil carbonate shells

open access: yes, 2006
Optical cathodoluminescence (CL) is commonly used to identify diagenetically altered carbonate fossils, yet such an interpretation is problematic as present-day carbonate shells may also luminesce.
