Luminescence and spectroscopy

open access: yes, 2016
The connection between luminescence and different chapters of spectroscopy is discussed. Modern theoretical concepts and experimental techniques wiped away the boundaries that traditionally existed between them.

A novel quinazolinone insulin receptor inhibitor and its synergy with an EGFR inhibitor in glucose‐driven glioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in

Nonfullerene Small Molecular Acceptor Acting as a Solid Additive Enables Highly Efficient Pseudo-Bilayer All-Polymer Solar Cells

open access: yesEnergies
In this work, pseudo-bilayer planar heterojunction (PPHJ) all-polymer solar cells (APSCs) were constructed on the basis of the commonly used PY-IT and PM6 as the acceptor and donor, respectively.

Simultaneous Measurement of 6DOF Motion Errors of Linear Guides of CNC Machine Tools Using Different Modes

open access: yesSensors, 2020
Based on the prior work on the six degrees of freedom (6DOF) motion errors measurement system for linear axes, and for the different types of machine tools and different installation methods, this study used a ray tracing idea to establish the ...

The problem of dating quartz 1 : Spectroscopic ionoluminescence of dose dependence

open access: yes, 2010
This work is partially supported by NERC studentship F008589/1.A suite of quartz samples of different provenances, irradiation, thermal and depositional histories were analysed using spectroscopic ionoluminescence (IL) to investigate variations in ...

Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.

A High-Precision Method for Dynamically Measuring Train Wheel Diameter Using Three Laser Displacement Transducers

open access: yesSensors, 2019
Wheel diameter is a significant geometric parameter related to the safe operation of trains, and needs to be measured dynamically. To the best of the authors’ knowledge, most existing dynamic measurement methods and systems do not meet the ...

Development of techniques for high-resolution spatially-resolved elemental analysis in materials of interest in luminescence dating [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
A series of analytical techniques have been developed to characterise the surface distribution of elements in a number of materials of archaeological interest, in support of current and future research in luminescence dating techniques. Under certain

Loss of proton‐sensing TDAG8 increases tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the pH‐sensing receptor TDAG8 accelerates colorectal cancer progression in mice. Animals lacking TDAG8 expression had increased tumor growth, DNA damage, and recruitment of tumor‐associated immune cells, including macrophages, neutrophils, and monocytes.

Luminescence Dating of Medieval and Early Modern Brickwork [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Essex is a county rich in significant historic brickwork spanning the medieval period. A great deal of earlier archaeological study has focused on the development and use of brick during this period, providing a framework of understanding as to how this
