Anaesthetic protocols for lumpfish (Cyclopterus lumpus L.)
Fish & Shellfish Immunology, 2016Lumpfish and different species of wrasse have shown to efficiently eat sea lice. Due to the high demand for cleaner fish, lumpfish is now farmed in Europe. In Norway, there has been a rapid increase in production sites the last three years and the number of produced lumpfish has increased from 0.4 million in 2012 to 10 million (estimate) in 2015. There

Phenodeviants of the Lumpfish Cyclopterus lumpus (Cyclopteridae) and Their Survival
Journal of Ichthyology, 2019Deviations in the development of the caudal peduncle in the lumpfish Cyclopterus lumpus are described. Data on abiotic and biotic conditions of lumpfish’s existence in the North Atlantic are generalized. The importance of a unique niche of lumpfish in the marine ecosystem, which allows fish with greatly reduced swimming abilities (functions) to survive,

Is cleaning behaviour in lumpfish (Cyclopterus lumpus) parentally controlled?
Aquaculture, 2016Abstract To investigate the possible family influence on sea lice grazing of lumpfish on Atlantic salmon, nine families of lumpfish (N = 360) with a mean (± SD) weight of 169.4 ± 8.3 g were distributed among nine sea cages (5 × 5 × 5 m) each stocked with 400 Atlantic salmon with a mean (± SD) weight of 123.3 ± 12.3 g.

AbstractThe first description of the histology of the digestive tract of the lumpfish Cyclopterus lumpus showed an adaptation for collecting and storing water. The morphology of this species' tract is mostly typical of carnivorous fishes, having a sac‐like stomach for storage and a relatively short intestine of approximately 1.2× the standard body ...

Sublethal effects of a new antifouling candidate on lumpfish (Cyclopterus lumpusL.) and Atlantic cod (Gadus morhuaL.) larvae [PDF]
Sublethal effects of medetomidine, a new generation antifouling compound, on lumpfish ( Cyclopterus lumpus L.) and cod ( Gadus morhua L.) larvae were examined. The effects on respiration rate and on colour adaptation of newly hatched larvae were assessed

The Effects of Vertebral Deformities on Swimming Kinematics in Lumpfish, Cyclopterus lumpus
Integrative And Comparative BiologySynopsis Vertebral deformities such as abnormal curvatures and shapes may influence kinematics of fishes during swimming. Our study examines the vertebral deformities of hatchery-reared lumpfish (Cyclopterus lumpus) to better understand the effects of vertebral deformity on swimming kinematics.

The development of bony skeleton is studied in the ontogeny of lumpfish Cyclopterus lumpus. In general, the sequence of appearance of the bony elements is similar to that in other teleost fishes with the exclusion of the absence of the basihyal anlage and the presence of only cartilaginous basibranchials in all examined larvae and juveniles.

Piscirickettsia salmonis infection in cultured lumpfish (Cyclopterus lumpus L.)
Journal of Fish Diseases, 2017AbstractA Piscirickettsia salmonis infection was diagnosed in lumpfish (Cyclopterus lumpus L.) juveniles held in a marine research facility on the west coast of Ireland. The main clinical signs and pathology included marked ascites, severe multifocal liver necrosis and severe diffuse inflammation and necrosis of the exocrine pancreas and peri ...

First record of Tetramicra brevifilum in lumpfish (Cyclopterus lumpus, L.)
Journal of Fish Diseases, 2016AbstractA microsporidian species with 98.3–98.4% nucleotide identity to Tetramicra brevifilum (Journal of Fish Diseases, 3, 1980, 495) was diagnosed in lumpfish (Cyclopterus lumpus, L.) broodstock held at a breeding and rearing facility in western Ireland.
