Microgravity‐induced changes in skeletal muscle and possible countermeasures: What we can learn from bed rest and human space studies

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Despite exercise countermeasures to sustain health and performance in spaceflight, complete maintenance of muscle mass and functions in microgravity is still not possible for most astronauts. The principal cause of the limited effectiveness of existing exercise countermeasures is the difficulty in achieving full loading forces in space.

Improvement of lupin seed valorisation by the pig with the addition of alpha-galactosidase in the feed and the choice of a suited variety [PDF]

open access: yesBiotechnologie, Agronomie, Société et Environnement, 2005
Three experiments were conducted to assess whether an a-galactosidase supplement improved the utilisation of lupin seeds by growing and finishing pigs and to determine the best lupin variety in presence of a-galactosidase.

Fetal glucose availability: a key regulator of the metabolic, hormonal and contractility profiles of the fetal sheep heart

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend To investigate the role of glucose availability in fetal left ventricle (LV) development, this study assessed whether maternal late gestation undernutrition (LGUN; 50% of Control diet) induced alterations in the contractility, metabolic, and hormonal profile can be ameliorated in LGUN fetuses receiving glucose infusion (LGUN+G ...

Food-grade Pickering stabilizers obtained from a protein-rich lupin cultivar (AluProt-CGNA®): Chemical characterization and emulsifying properties

open access: yesFood Hydrocolloids, 2019
Pickering stabilizers exhibit unique interfacial properties; however, only limited types of these particles are available for the food industry. Therefore, the main aim of this study was to develop a food-grade Pickering stabilizer using a protein ...

Lupin kernel meal as fishmeal replacement in formulated feeds for the Whiteleg Shrimp ( Litopenaeus vannamei )

open access: yes, 2020
Rapidly expanding global aquaculture requires sustainable, local protein sources to supplement the use of fishmeal. Lupin seed meal (Lupinus angustifolius) was tested as sustainable diet component for Whiteleg shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei).

Gas Chromatography‐Based Methods for Profiling Volatile Off‐Aroma Compounds in Grain Legumes: A Review

open access: yesLegume Science, Volume 8, Issue 2, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Instrumental characterisation of the volatile organic compounds (VOCs), responsible for off‐aroma, is mainly centred on gas chromatography‐based techniques. Despite previous reviews that have addressed the chemical compounds and biosynthetic pathways of off‐aroma generation, to date, there is a lack of a comprehensive review that critically ...
