During P deficiency, several lupin species show an increased efflux of organic acid anions, which increases the solubility of P and metals such as Fe, Al, Zn, Cu and Cd. The effect of these organic acid anions on the uptake of Cu and Cd is not well known.

The energy value of Lupinus angustifolius and Lupinus albus for growing pigs
Animal Feed Science and Technology, 2000Ninety male crossbred pigs were allocated at 30 kg live weight to a 6 5 factorial experiment involving six diets and five levels of feeding where average daily intakes were 1.11, 1.36, 1.67, 1.90 kg and ad libitum between 30 and 60 kg live weight. The control diet contained predominantly animal protein sources, another four diets contained 350 g/kg of ...

Triterpene glycosides of Lupinus angustifolius
Phytochemistry, 2002Investigation of whole seeds of Lupinus angustifolius L. (Leguminosae) yielded the two triterpenoid saponins with branched monosaccharide chain 3 beta,21 beta,22 beta,24-tetrahydroxyolean-12-en-3-O-alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1-->3)-[alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1-->2)]-beta-D-galactopyranosyl-(1-->2)-beta-D-glucuronopyranoside (3) and 3 beta,21 beta,22 beta ...

Lupine seed represents an interesting, non-genetically modified, and low cost alternative to soybean as an important source of protein and oil. In this study, we compare seed protein, mineral, fiber and starch content, lipid and phenolic profile, and antioxidant properties of three lupine wild species (Lupinus albus, Lupinus luteus, and lupinus ...

Temperature effect on seed germination of Lupinus albus, Lupinus angustifolius and Lupinus luteus.
2011In order to evaluate germination response to temperature of two varieties of Lupinus albus L. (‘Luxor’, ‘Rosetta’), L. angustifolius L. (‘Jindalee’, ‘Sonet’) and L. luteus L. (‘Dukat’, ‘Mister’), seeds were subjected to seven different germination temperatures from 5°C to 35°C with step of 5°C.

Abstract Members of the genus Lupinus (family Leguminosae) serve as food and feed for livestock in agriculturally marginal regions. The herbaceous perennials often grow from a creeping root and may reach 12-30 inches in height. Blue, purple, white, magenta, or bicolored pea-like flowers are seen in early summer and are followed by pea-
