Follicular dynamics in Serrana goats [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Twenty-two Serrana goats were studied through two successive estrous cycles in order to characterize their follicular dynamics during the breeding season. The ovaries of the goats were scanned daily by realtime ultrasonography and all follicles ≥3mm were

Effect of Flushing Diets With Different Omega‐6 to Omega‐3 Fatty Acids Ratios on Reproductive Performance and Blood Biochemical Attributes in Shall Ewes

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 1, January 2026.
Dietary supplementation with different omega‐6:omega‐3 fatty acid ratios influenced ovarian activity, reproductive hormones and fertility outcomes in Shall ewes under semiarid conditions. Ewes receiving the lower ω6:ω3 ratio (1.5) showed improved follicular dynamics, higher progesterone levels and enhanced conception rate compared with higher ratios ...

Efficacy of Supplementary Guanidinoacetic Acid at Different Dietary Crude Protein Levels on the Productive Performance, Egg Quality, Intestinal Morphology, Antioxidative Status, and Serum Metabolites of Aged Laying Hens Exposed to High Ambient Temperatures

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 1, January 2026.
0.15% GAA supplementation enhanced body weight and productive performance in heat‐stressed aged hens. Serum creatine, nitric oxide, and antioxidant capacity increased with GAA, while egg quality remained unaffected. One percent reduced protein diet with GAA maintained performance, whereas 2% reduction caused losses.

Antimicrobial prescribing guidelines for horses in Australia

open access: yesAustralian Veterinary Journal, Volume 103, Issue 12, Page 781-889, December 2025.
The growing problem of antimicrobial resistance also affects equine veterinarians with increasing frequency. Antimicrobial stewardship and responsible prescribing are essential for a future in which effective antimicrobials are available, as it is unlikely that new antimicrobials will become available for use in horses.

Specific effects on the reproductive function including fertility relevant for cumulative risk assessment of pesticide residues

open access: yesEFSA Journal, Volume 23, Issue 12, December 2025.
Abstract According to the ‘EFSA‐SANTE Action Plan on Cumulative Risk Assessment for pesticides residues’, EFSA, with the support of a working group, undertook the identification of specific effects on male and female reproductive function, including fertility, that are considered relevant for grouping pesticide residues and for assessing ...

Neospora caninum and Bovine Neosporosis: Current Vaccine Research [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Neospora caninum, a tissue cyst-forming parasite, is the causative agent of bovine neosporosis. It is considered to be one of the most important transmissible causes of reproductive failure in cattle; abortion and neonatal mortality result in significant

Disruption of ovarian function and induction of apoptosis in female mice by Brefeldin A: Mechanistic insights into reproductive toxicity

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, Volume 8, Issue 11, Page 2053-2068, November 2025.
Brefeldin A (BFA) significantly inhibits oocyte release and induces apoptosis in ovarian granulosa cells by disrupting follicular development. It downregulates proliferation‐associated genes, reduces SIRT1/SIRT6 proteins, and upregulates cell cycle inhibitors P21 and P16. Additionally, BFA impairs estrogen synthesis and affects ovarian function through

Penicillin and Gentamicin Concentrations in the Uterine Fluid of Non‐Pregnant Mares Following a Single Intrauterine Infusion

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Pharmacology and Therapeutics, Volume 48, Issue 5, Page 389-396, September 2025.
ABSTRACT Despite their widespread clinical use, there is limited pharmacokinetic data for many equine intrauterine antimicrobials. This study aimed to measure the concentration of gentamicin and penicillin in the uterine fluid of mares following infusion of either a standard (PPGent) or long‐acting (LA‐PPGent) compounded formulation.

Morphological and Histological Variations of the Reproductive Organs During the Annual Cycle in a Neotropical Bat: Peters' Ghost‐Faced Bat Mormoops megalophylla (Chiroptera: Mormoopidae)

open access: yesJournal of Morphology, Volume 286, Issue 7, July 2025.
Mormoops megalophylla exhibits a seasonal monoestrous reproductive pattern. Spermatogenesis and folliculogenesis occurs from October to December, mating takes place in November–December, gestation lasts from December to May, and lactation extends from June to September.

Luteal dynamics in goats: morphological and endocrine features. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
: The aim of this study was to establish the morphologic and endocrine characteristics of luteal dynamics in goats. It was used Toggenburg female goats that showed natural estrus in a 48-hour interval.
