Effect of Flushing Diets With Different Omega‐6 to Omega‐3 Fatty Acids Ratios on Reproductive Performance and Blood Biochemical Attributes in Shall Ewes

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 1, January 2026.
Dietary supplementation with different omega‐6:omega‐3 fatty acid ratios influenced ovarian activity, reproductive hormones and fertility outcomes in Shall ewes under semiarid conditions. Ewes receiving the lower ω6:ω3 ratio (1.5) showed improved follicular dynamics, higher progesterone levels and enhanced conception rate compared with higher ratios ...

15-Ketodihydro-PGF, Progesterone and Cortisol Profiles in Heifers after Induction of Parturition by Injection of Dexamethasone

open access: yesActa Veterinaria Scandinavica, 2001
In order to study rapid changes in 15-ketodihydro-PGF2α, cortisol and progesterone in the period preceding parturition in cattle, pre-term parturition was induced in 4 late pregnant heifers.

Perturbations in Lineage Specification of Granulosa and Theca Cells May Alter Corpus Luteum Formation and Function [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Anovulation is a major cause of infertility, and it is the major leading reproductive disorder in mammalian females. Without ovulation, an oocyte is not released from the ovarian follicle to be fertilized and a corpus luteum is not formed.

Multiple roles of hypoxia in ovarian function: roles of hypoxia-inducible factor-related and -unrelated signals during the luteal phase [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
There is increasing interest in the role of oxygen conditions in the microenvironment of organs because of the discovery of a hypoxia-specific transcription factor, namely hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF) 1.

Efficacy of Supplementary Guanidinoacetic Acid at Different Dietary Crude Protein Levels on the Productive Performance, Egg Quality, Intestinal Morphology, Antioxidative Status, and Serum Metabolites of Aged Laying Hens Exposed to High Ambient Temperatures

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 1, January 2026.
0.15% GAA supplementation enhanced body weight and productive performance in heat‐stressed aged hens. Serum creatine, nitric oxide, and antioxidant capacity increased with GAA, while egg quality remained unaffected. One percent reduced protein diet with GAA maintained performance, whereas 2% reduction caused losses.

Antimicrobial prescribing guidelines for horses in Australia

open access: yesAustralian Veterinary Journal, Volume 103, Issue 12, Page 781-889, December 2025.
The growing problem of antimicrobial resistance also affects equine veterinarians with increasing frequency. Antimicrobial stewardship and responsible prescribing are essential for a future in which effective antimicrobials are available, as it is unlikely that new antimicrobials will become available for use in horses.

External progesterone supplementation during the Ovsynch protocol reduces the incomplete luteolysis in dairy cows under heat stress

open access: yesMacedonian Veterinary Review
The present study aimed to determinate the effect of external progesterone (P4) supplementation on luteolysis in cows under heat stress. Forty-eight (n=48) dairy cows in the period from July September 2018 were part of and at day 35±3 postpartum scored ...

Specific effects on the reproductive function including fertility relevant for cumulative risk assessment of pesticide residues

open access: yesEFSA Journal, Volume 23, Issue 12, December 2025.
Abstract According to the ‘EFSA‐SANTE Action Plan on Cumulative Risk Assessment for pesticides residues’, EFSA, with the support of a working group, undertook the identification of specific effects on male and female reproductive function, including fertility, that are considered relevant for grouping pesticide residues and for assessing ...

Disruption of ovarian function and induction of apoptosis in female mice by Brefeldin A: Mechanistic insights into reproductive toxicity

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, Volume 8, Issue 11, Page 2053-2068, November 2025.
Brefeldin A (BFA) significantly inhibits oocyte release and induces apoptosis in ovarian granulosa cells by disrupting follicular development. It downregulates proliferation‐associated genes, reduces SIRT1/SIRT6 proteins, and upregulates cell cycle inhibitors P21 and P16. Additionally, BFA impairs estrogen synthesis and affects ovarian function through
