Casuarines A and B, Lycopodium alkaloids from Lycopodium casuarinoides
Tetrahedron Letters, 2013A phytochemical study on Lycopodium casuarinoides has led to the isolation of two new C16N2-type Lycopodium alkaloids, casuarine A (1), a cage-like structure featured with a fused 6/6/6/6/6 pentacyclic ring system, and casuarine B (2). Their structures were elucidated based on the spectroscopic data and further confirmed by X-ray analysis.

Lycopodium Alkaloids: Isolation and Asymmetric Synthesis
2011Lycopodium alkaloids have attracted the attention of many natural product chemists and synthetic organic chemists due to their important biological activities and unique skeletal characteristics. In this review we describe isolation and asymmetric syntheses of several new alkaloids such as lycoposerramines-C, -V, -W, and cernuine, and show that ...

LYCOPODIUM ALKALOIDS: VII. LYCODOLINE (ALKALOID L.8)
Canadian Journal of Chemistry, 1964Lycodoline (alkaloid L.8) is shown to have the structure and stereochemistry depicted in II. The transformation of lycodoline into lycopodine is described. The use of infrared spectroscopy in assigning the configuration at C-12 and the nitrogen in these and related alkaloids is described. The effect of the configuration at C-12 on the optical rotatory

Biosynthesis of Lycopodium Alkaloids
1973An investigation of the biosynthesis of lycopodine, the major alkaloid of Lycopodium tristachyum, has revealed that L-lysine, but not D-lysine is incorporated into this alkaloid. D-lysine serves as a precursor to pipecolic acid in this species. Sodium malonate has been demonstrated to be a specific precursor to lycopodine, but attempts to verify the ...
