Does shear wave ultrasound independently predict axillary lymph node metastasis in women with invasive breast cancer? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Shear wave elastography (SWE) shows promise as an adjunct to greyscale ultrasound examination in assessing breast masses. In breast cancer, higher lesion stiffness on SWE has been shown to be associated with features of poor prognosis.

Assessment of lymph node involvement in colorectal cancer.

open access: yesWorld Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery, 2016
Lymph node metastasis informs prognosis and is a key factor in deciding further management, particularly adjuvant chemotherapy. It is core to all contemporary staging systems, including the widely used tumor node metastasis staging system.

Chemoresistome mapping in individual breast cancer patients unravels diversity in dynamic transcriptional adaptation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study used longitudinal transcriptomics and gene‐pattern classification to uncover patient‐specific mechanisms of chemotherapy resistance in breast cancer. Findings reveal preexisting drug‐tolerant states in primary tumors and diverse gene rewiring patterns across patients, converging on a few dysregulated functional modules. Despite receiving the

Development of a 3D coculture system to study adipocyte and lymph node cell interactions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We have developed a long term 3-dimensional coculture system with adipocytes and lymph node cells for the purpose of investigating interactions between these cells in vitro. Present experimental work with the culture system is aimed at introducing lymph

Decellularized Lymph Nodes as Scaffolds for Tissue Engineered Lymph Nodes [PDF]

open access: yesLymphatic Research and Biology, 2015
The lymphatic system is commonly injured during cancer treatment. However, despite the morbidity of these injuries, there are currently no options for replacing damaged lymphatics. The purpose of this study was to optimize methods for decellularization of murine lymph nodes (LN) and to determine if these scaffolds can be used to tissue engineer lymph ...

Detecting homologous recombination deficiency for breast cancer through integrative analysis of genomic data

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study develops a semi‐supervised classifier integrating multi‐genomic data (1404 training/5893 validation samples) to improve homologous recombination deficiency (HRD) detection in breast cancer. Our method demonstrates prognostic value and predicts chemotherapy/PARP inhibitor sensitivity in HRD+ tumours.

Correlation between Lymph Node Ratio and Clinicopathological Features and Prognosis of IIIa-N2 Non-small Cell Lung Cancer

open access: yesChinese Journal of Lung Cancer, 2019
Background and objective IIIa-N2 non-small cell lung cancer was significant different in survival, although N stage of lung cancer based on anatomic location of metastasis lymph node.

Histopathology of the Lymph Nodes [PDF]

open access: yesToxicologic Pathology, 2006
Lymph nodes function as filters of tissues and tissue fluids and are sites of origin and production of lymphocytes for normal physiological functions. As part of this normal function, they react to both endogenous and exogenous substances with a variety of specific morphological and functional responses.

Targeting Lymph Node Sinus Macrophages to Inhibit Lymph Node Metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Therapy: Nucleic Acids, 2019
Lymph nodes are important peripheral immune organs in which numerous important immune responses occur. During the process of lymphatic metastasis, lymph nodes are also sites through which tumor cells must pass.

Landscape of BRAF transcript variants in human cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We investigate the annotation of BRAF variants, focusing on protein‐coding BRAF‐220 (formerly BRAF‐reference) and BRAF‐204 (BRAF‐X1). The IsoWorm pipeline allows us to quantify these variants in human cancer, starting from RNA‐sequencing data. BRAF‐204 is more abundant than BRAF‐220 and impacts patient survival.
