Success rates of re-excision after positive margins for invasive lobular carcinoma of the breast. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Rates of positive margins after surgical resection of invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC) are high (ranging from 18 to 60%), yet the efficacy of re-excision lumpReceptor subtypeectomy for clearing positive margins is unknown.

Somatic mutation load of estrogen receptor-positive breast tumors predicts overall survival: an analysis of genome sequence data. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Breast cancer is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers in women. While there are several effective therapies for breast cancer and important single gene prognostic/predictive markers, more than 40,000 women die from this disease every year.

LINC01116, a hypoxia‐lncRNA marker of pathological lymphangiogenesis and poor prognosis in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The LINC01116 long noncoding RNA is induced by hypoxia and associated with poor prognosis and high recurrence rates in two cohorts of lung adenocarcinoma patients. Here, we demonstrate that besides its expression in cancer cells, LINC01116 is markedly expressed in lymphatic endothelial cells of the tumor stroma in which it participates in hypoxia ...

Local Excision of a Mucinous Adenocarcinoma of the Anal Margin (Extramammary Paget’s Disease) and Reconstruction with a Bilateral V-Y Flap

open access: yesCase Reports in Surgery, 2019
The case of a 75-year-old female with invasive extramammary Paget’s disease of the anal margin, without involvement of the anal canal, is reported. The patient underwent wide local excision of the lesion with reconstruction with a double V-Y flap, a ...

Clinical-pathological features of an occult mixed mucinous male breast cancer. a case report [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Mucinous carcinoma of the male breast is an uncommon malignant breast neoplasm and its diagnoses remain difficult. It is probably due to such a low rate of breast cancer cases that men tend to be diagnosed at an older age than women and with a later ...

Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of single circulating tumor cells in the follow‐up of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.

Prognostic Impact of Skip Metastasis to the Lateral Lymph Nodes in Lower Rectal Cancer

open access: yesJournal of the Anus, Rectum and Colon
Objectives: Some patients with lower rectal cancer develop “skip metastasis,” in which lymph node metastasis occurs in the lateral but not the mesenteric lymph nodes. However, the prognostic impact of skip metastasis is unclear.

Next‐Generation Bio‐Reducible Lipids Enable Enhanced Vaccine Efficacy in Malaria and Primate Models

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Structure–activity relationship (SAR) optimization of bio‐reducible ionizable lipids enables the development of highly effective lipid nanoparticle (LNP) mRNA vaccines. Lead LNPs show superior tolerability and antibody responses in rodents and primates, outperforming approved COVID‐19 vaccine lipids.

Protocol for a multicentre randomized clinical trial comparing oncological outcomes of D2 versus D3 lymph node dissection in colonic cancer (COLD trial)

open access: yesBJS Open, 2019
Background The extent of lymph node dissection in colonic cancer surgery remains arguable, and evidence from RCTs regarding extended lymph node dissection outcomes is lacking.
