Lymphangiogenesis New Mechanisms

Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, 2002
Abstract: A mouse model has been developed to study lymphangiogenesis dissociated from angiogenesis. bFGF implanted in a mouse cornea at a concentration below the threshold to induce angiogenesis potently induces lymphangiogenesis. This model has permitted a study of cellular and molecular mechanisms of lymphangiogenesis.

Inflammatory Triggers of Lymphangiogenesis

Lymphatic Research and Biology, 2003
Inflammation is the common denominator to the postnatal events that overlap with lymphatic vessel growth, or lymphangiogenesis. Undoubtedly, inflammation and accompanying fluid overload are cardinal factors in wound healing, lymphedema, the pathogenesis of some forms of lymphangiomatosis, and solid tumor lymphangiogenesis.

Inhibition of NADPH oxidase 4 attenuates lymphangiogenesis and tumor metastasis in breast cancer

The FASEB Journal, 2021
Lymphangiogenesis is thought to contribute to promote tumor cells to enter lymphatic vessels and plant at a secondary site. Endothelial cells are the cornerstone of the generation of new lymphatic vessels.

Molecular lymphangiogenesis: new players

Trends in Cell Biology, 2005
The function of the lymphatic vascular system as a conduit for immune cells and excess tissue fluid has been known for over a century, but the molecular players involved in lymphangiogenesis--the formation of lymphatic vessels--have remained unknown until recently.

Corneal angiogenesis and lymphangiogenesis

Current Opinion in Allergy & Clinical Immunology, 2012
The purpose of the present review is to describe new antilymphangiogenic treatment strategies and recent findings on strain-dependency of corneal lymphangiogenesis and the interdependency between blood and lymphatic vessel growth.Studies on mice have revealed that apart from haemangiogenesis, lymphangiogenesis can also differ markedly between several ...

Signaling angiogenesis and lymphangiogenesis

Current Opinion in Cell Biology, 1998
Exciting progress has been made in elucidating the complex network of receptor-ligand interactions that regulate blood vessel growth. Understanding these control mechanisms is of interest not only because of their role in developmental biology, but because they provide potential therapeutic strategies for disease processes involving angiogenesis, such ...

Glucocorticoids Suppress Corneal Lymphangiogenesis

Cornea, 2011
To determine whether glucocorticoids suppress corneal lymphatic vessel growth (lymphangiogenesis) or induce lymphatic vessel regression. We measured human lymphatic endothelial cell proliferation and collagen-induced tubulogenesis in culture conditions with and without dexamethasone, a potent glucocorticoid.

Molecular Mechanisms of Lymphangiogenesis

International Journal of Hematology, 2004
Although the process of vascular development has been well documented, little is understood about lymphatic vasculature formation, despite its importance in normal and pathologic conditions. The dysfunction or abnormal growth of lymphatic vessels is associated with lymphedema and cancer metastasis. The recent discovery of lymphangiogenic growth factors
