Lymphatic endothelium expresses PECAM-1

Tissue and Cell, 1998
The expression of adhesion molecules on the lymphatic endothelium of human small intestine and submandibular lymph node was studied immunohistochemically with the antibodies for selectin family and Ig superfamily members. In both small intestine and submandibular lymph node, lymphatic endothelium did not express intercellular adhesion molecule-1 and ...

Ultrastructure of lymphatic endothelium

Proceedings, annual meeting, Electron Microscopy Society of America, 1989
Recently, the lymphatics in the caprine hemal nodes have been described. The present study describes some ultrastructural features of the endothelium in the lymphatics of the goat hemal nodes.Hemal nodes located along the aorta, were collected from 15 clinically healthy, adult, West African dwarf goats.

A Novel Monoclonal Antibody Specific for Lymphatic Endothelium

The Histochemical Journal, 2000
The difficulty of identifying and differentiating lymphatic and blood microvessels in tissue sections can be overcome by a monoclonal antibody specific for lymphatic endothelium. Unfortunately, the only known antibody also reacts with the endothelium of some blood vessels.

Lymphatic endothelium isolation, characterization and long term culture

The Anatomical Record, 1993
AbstractUsing a collagenase trypsin‐EDTA treatment, we have been able to successfully isolate and grow primary cultures of the lymphatic endothelium (LEC) that were subcultured, frozen for storage, subsequently thawed with good recovery and growth, and serially subcultured.

Lymphatic endothelium: a new frontier of metastasis research

Nature Cell Biology, 2002
The vascular endothelium is a dynamic tissue with many active functions. Until recently, endothelial cell (EC) biology studies have used cultured ECs from various organs; these cell lines are considered representative of the blood vascular endothelium.

The organization of endocytotic vesicles in lymphatic endothelium

Microvascular Research, 1983
The lymphatic endothelium from renal hilar lymphatics in the rat was subjected to qualitative and quantitative ultrastructural analysis with emphasis on the extent and disposition of its vesicular component. The uncoated endocytotic vesicles had an average maximum diameter of 0.073 micron and occupied 7% of the cytoplasm.

Myogenic Responses of Isolated Lymphatics: Modulation by Endothelium

Microcirculation, 1997
ABSTRACTObjective: To characterize the effect of increases of intraluminal pressure on the spontaneous diameter oscillations of isolated lymphatics and on the maximum and minimum diameter, in the presence and absence of endothelium. Methods: Afferent lymphatics were isolated from rat iliac lymph nodes.

Culture and characterization of bovine mesenteric lymphatic endothelium

In Vitro Cellular & Developmental Biology, 1987
Lymphatic endothelial cells isolated from bovine mesenteric lymphatic vessels were cultured and characterized. Lymphatic endothelial cells grew as a monolayer displaying an elongated morphology in preconfluent primary cultures. When confluent, the cells exhibited a polygonal morphology to form a "cobblestone" pattern previously described for cultured ...

Lymphatic endothelium: An important interactive surface for malignant cells

Pulmonary Pharmacology & Therapeutics, 2006
Endothelial cells line the vessels which transport fluid and cells throughout the body. Although much attention has been paid to these cells in the context of the blood vascular system, endothelial cells also line lymphatic vessels. Recent progress in identifying growth factors which drive the development of lymphatic vessels and molecular markers ...

[Lymphatic endothelium in certain conditions].

Angiologiia i sosudistaia khirurgiia = Angiology and vascular surgery, 2013
Presented herein is a review of the literature data concerning the structural and functional peculiarities of the endothelium of the lymphatic and blood vessels. The authors consider the current state of the art of the problem regarding dysfunction of lymphatic endothelium dysfunctions developing in various diseases, as well as in the process of ...
