Adverse prognosis gene expression patterns in metastatic castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We aggregated a cohort of 1012 mCRPC tissue samples from 769 patients and investigated the association of gene expression‐based pathways with clinical outcomes. Loss of AR signaling, high proliferation, and a glycolytic phenotype were independently prognostic for poor outcomes, and an adverse transcriptional feature score incorporating these pathways ...

Modeling and Characterization of Lymphatic Vessels Using a Lumped Parameter Approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The lymphatic system is responsible for several vital roles in human body, one of which is maintaining fluid and protein balance. There is no central pump in the lymphatic system and the transport of fluid against gravity and adverse pressure gradient is

Aquaporin-4 Functionality and Virchow-Robin Space Water Dynamics: Physiological Model for Neurovascular Coupling and Glymphatic Flow. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The unique properties of brain capillary endothelium, critical in maintaining the blood-brain barrier (BBB) and restricting water permeability across the BBB, have important consequences on fluid hydrodynamics inside the BBB hereto inadequately ...

Oral administration of cannabis with lipids leads to high levels of cannabinoids in the intestinal lymphatic system and prominent immunomodulation

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
Cannabidiol (CBD) and ∆9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) have well documented immunomodulatory effects in vitro, but not following oral administration in humans.

TOMM20 as a driver of cancer aggressiveness via oxidative phosphorylation, maintenance of a reduced state, and resistance to apoptosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
TOMM20 increases cancer aggressiveness by maintaining a reduced state with increased NADH and NADPH levels, oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS), and apoptosis resistance while reducing reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels. Conversely, CRISPR‐Cas9 knockdown of TOMM20 alters these cancer‐aggressive traits.

Orthotopic liver transplantation for massive hepatic lymphangiomatosis [PDF]

open access: yes, 1988
Lymphangiomatosis is a rare malformation of the lymphatic system that causes severe symptoms secondary to progressive growth into or close to vital structures. A case report of liver failure related to this space-occupying intrahepatic mechanism is taken

Three-Dimensional Imaging of Lymphatic System in Lymphedema Legs Using Interstitial Computed Tomography-lymphography [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
As a new trial, we used interstitial computed tomography-lymphography (CT-LG) in 10 patients with lower extremity lymphedema (n=20 limbs) at stage 0, 1, 2, or 3 under the International Society of Lymphology (ISL) classification.
