Comprehensive omics‐based classification system in adult patients with B‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The COMBAT classification system, developed through multi‐omics integration, stratifies adult patients with B‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia(B‐ALL) into three molecular subtypes with distinct surface antigen patterns, immune landscape, methylation patterns, biological pathways and prognosis.

Immune system activation by natural products and complex fractions: a network pharmacology approach in cancer treatment

open access: yesCell Stress, 2020
Natural products and traditional herbal medicine are an important source of alternative bioactive compounds but very few plant-based preparations have been scientifically evaluated and validated for their potential as medical treatments.

Sex chromosome positions in human interphase nuclei as studied by in situ hybridization with chromosome specific DNA probes [PDF]

open access: yes, 1984
Two cloned repetitive DNA probes, pXBR and CY1, which bind preferentially to specific regions of the human X and Y chromosome, respectively, were used to study the distribution of the sex chromosomes in human lymphocyte nuclei by in situ hybridization ...

Tumor clusters with divergent inflammation and human retroelement expression determine the clinical outcome of patients with serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Analysis of treatment‐naïve high‐grade serous ovarian carcinoma (HGSOC) and control tissues for ERVs, LINE‐1 (L1), inflammation, and immune checkpoints identified five clusters with diverse patient recurrence‐free survivals. An inflammation score was calculated and correlated with retroelement expression, where one novel cluster (Triple‐I) with high ...

Lymphocytic Colitis With Enterocolic Lymphocytic Phlebitis

open access: yesACG Case Reports Journal
ABSTRACT Enterocolic lymphocytic phlebitis is a rare lymphocytic vasculitis afflicting the gastrointestinal veins without involving the arterial system. Lymphocytic colitis is a more common pathology described as lymphocytic inflammation of the colonic epithelium. Concurrence of both these pathologies is extremely rare.

Chimeric diphtheria toxin–CCL8 cytotoxic peptide for breast cancer management

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
DTCCL8 is a recombinant fusion toxin that targets cancer cells expressing chemokine receptors. By combining diphtheria toxin with CCL8, DTCCL8 binds to multiple receptors on tumor cells and induces selective cytotoxicity. This strategy enables receptor‐mediated targeting of cancer and may support the development of chemokine‐guided therapeutics ...

Increased expression of programmed death ligand 1 (PD-L1) in human pituitary tumors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
PURPOSE: Subsets of pituitary tumors exhibit an aggressive clinical courses and recur despite surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. Because modulation of the immune response through inhibition of T-cell checkpoints has led to durable clinical responses ...

Lymphocytes in Atherosclerosis [PDF]

open access: yesArteriosclerosis, Thrombosis, and Vascular Biology, 2015
Atherosclerosis is the major cause of cardiovascular disease, and cardiovascular disease remains the primary cause of death in the United States. The primary complication for patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2D) is cardiovascular disease.1–8 Because the incidences of T2D and obesity are drastically increasing in the United States and now ...

PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells enhances bortezomib sensitivity in multiple myeloma cells by altering their metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigated how PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs) indirectly affects multiple myeloma (MM) cell metabolism and viability. Culturing MM cells in conditioned medium from PYCR1‐silenced BMSCs impaired oxidative phosphorylation and increased sensitivity to bortezomib.
